When life was bad,
I always took your hand.
I led you on.
I had to pretend I was strong.

It could be that you thought,
We were inseparable.
That we couldn't be apart,
Not for one minute, no.

CHORUS

You always had to be,
right up next to me.
Closing up my dreams
of being anything, but with you.

I was tired of that life,
I let go of your hand
and I became myself again,
and I lived and now it's your turn.

END CHORUS

I remember that fateful day,
when you tried to pull me
away from sight and farther still,
till we were past oblivion.

You stole my dreams away
and called them yours, discretely.
You always claimed that you loved me
but you would visit me unless...

CHORUS

You always had to carry on
and be the best.
You couldn't accept me being alone
and you tried to break all of me.

No telling what my life would bring,
you took control.
Looking through you,
I can see through all of the lies.
