Well Australian people sit around trying to talk in British accents (sometimes with plums shoved in our mouths.)
We also occasionally try to emulate American accents, mostly when using the phrase "oh my god."
Meanwhile everyone else is probably making fun of our accents as well.
Don't worry though, New Zealanders have the worst accents: for instance, a kiwi friend of my parents who'd just built a deck for his house said "wanna come sit on me deck" to my mum, but it sounded like he said "wanna come sit on me dick." Needless to say my mum was horrified until he figured out what it had sounded like and cleared things up.
We don't ... sit around and try to speak in American accents. XD I just occasionally go 'Oh. Em. Gee!' in an American accent. So, yeah, your great mystery is solved. We don't.

Knowing people from other countries try to sound American be saying "Oh my God!" in, no doubt, squeaky, over exaggerated voices doesn't make me feel too hoppy

I hope you know we're not all like that. Well, I mean, obviously, since you know Americans on here, but still....
Yeah, I know you're all not like that. I guess we get the trash that America rejects for its TV and it's always "oh my god, lets go to te mall" and stuff.
