The Life of Pi by Yann Martel is a reflective look on the human life, told within the ludicrous situation of being on a lifeboat at sea- with a Bengal Tiger on board.
Don’t let the strange idea fool you, this is a good book. It is captivating, and explores subjects like religion, philosophy, and how to deal with a 600 pound Bengal Tiger in a lifeboat. The main problem I have with this book is lack of action. The many good pages are bogged down with endless descriptions of rather uninteresting things- the habits of zoo animals and the habits of various kinds of chimpanzee's. But this is one of the few books that is entertaining, while still presenting deep elements. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
