I'm a fan of the video games of Halo, so I read the the first two books.

They didn't really impress me. They were well written-other than the fact that they were written kind of like a video game. I liked to read the second one (which revolves around the events of Halo 1) because I got to bigger picture of the story. I didn't like how some of the characters were written about and tossed aside.

One of the things I did like about the first book by Eric Nylund is how the reader got into the mind of Master Chief (John). He did it well...for a pretty short book. The scenes are a little jumpy, and we get most of the Master Chief's thoughts. But I still think it should have been written a little better there.

I liked the first book better than the second. They're good books...if you want to just take a break from reading other longer books.

That's what it sorta felt like for me when I was reading them.
