The last part of Chapter 1! I'm desperate for reviews and don't mind harsh crticism, so please, review! Thanks! I try to review back...but I'm not too good at reviewing!

Upon entry, John and Garrett, along with every other man, stood up and began to move toward the strangers. But Sierra wasn’t paying attention to the Assassins, she was watching the white wolf. Sierra was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, and had wondered why she was never able to understand animals or see ghosts, but it never bothered her. But staring at the wolf, she wasn’t so sure if she didn’t have any powers. Sensing eyes on him, the wolf’s eyes turned and met hers, and he immediately stopped growling and walked toward her, tail wagging slightly.

No one noticed the wolf walking to her, and she bent down on one knee, staring intently at the wolf’s yellow eyes. She didn’t know what it was, but something in her felt…different. The wolf’s eyes also looked different, more intelligent.

“Hello,” the wolf barked at her.

Wait! Wolves do not talk! Sierra reminded herself, staring at the wolf. She must have just mistaken the bark for hello.

“I am Yin.” he opened his mouth, and to other ears it was simple bark and whine, but to her it was words.

“A-are you…talking?” Sierra asked the wolf uncertainly as it reached her.

“Yes. As are you, human. Can you explain this?” the wolf questioned, cocking his white head at her.

“Yes I can.” Sierra said certainly. “I am dreaming!”

The wolf growled at her and turned his head to the black wolf, probably Yang. “Come here and stop drooling!” Yin barked at him, and Yang obliged.

“Who is she?” Yang asked, glaring at her and growling.

“Stop that. She’s going to speak to us. Tell me if you understand her.”

“Understand her? She’s a human. We speak different languages. Have you got a flea in your brain?” Yang growled at him.

“Umm, hi…” Sierra whispered to Yang and he also gained the intelligent look to his eyes.

“She can speak with us,” Yang whimpered, backing away.

“Sierra! Get away from those wolves!” John yelled, and his voice sent the wolves running back to their master.

Sierra, still dazed and sure she was dreaming, stood up and watched as Garrett was sent flying across the room. Sierra gasped, but stayed quiet, not sure if the Assassins believed in not hitting girls.

The other men backed away, not sure what to do. Thankfully, the Assassins saw their dilemma.

“Everyone, out.” the leader said, and the other two pushed open the door. Everyone streamed out, but Sierra. She was not leaving the tavern or her mom.

“So, little girl thinks she’s tough, does she?” the lead Assassin said, walking lazily up to her, his dark eyes emotionless. His wolves stayed where they were, so the other Assassins followed.

Sierra resisted the urge to scream, as long as her mom stayed in the kitchen, she was fine. So she began to back away, eyes darting all around the room for a weapon, but she couldn’t find anything. Deliberately turning from the kitchen, she backed into the right wall, hands clenched at her sides, sweat gathering on her forehead.

The men snickered and moved closer, until they were only a foot from her. The leader took out his sword, and began moving closer again.

Sierra flinched away from the blade near her face, head turned towards the door, eyes squeezed shut. Yet something in her mind convinced her to open them again, and she did just in time to see the door fly open, and a new man enter, but not an Assassin.

“Move away from the girl.” came the low, menacing voice of the man who entered. He wore no shirt, ratty shorts, and a belt holding many knives of various sizes. His hair was long and shaggy, falling into his eyes and down around his neck. Beside him, was a wolf.

The Assassins quickly changed their target to the stranger who entered. They surrounded him, the three humans in front of him, the wolves behind him, facing off with the wolf he brought. Each Assassin took out their weapon, he just grinned, his eyes invisible behind his hair.

Sierra backed away from him when she saw his smile. The smile rose the hairs on the back of her neck, made gooseflesh pimple her bare arms, and even made the Assassins take a step back.

In one movement the Assassins attacked him, but they didn’t last long. He pinched the leader on the back of his neck, and soon the fell, the other two were kicked behind their knees, also falling unconscious. The wolf belonging to the stranger had driven away the other two, and it was only Sierra and him in the tavern.

“Who a-are you?” she stammered, placing a hand to her throat, trying to get all of the air back into her lungs. Her trembling knees threatened to fall from beneath her, and she slid against the wall down, until she was sitting, her whole body shaking in fear.

“I am Dorio.” he said simply, striding toward her with long, purposeful steps, the wolf loping beside him.

“Please, s-stay back!” she whispered, turning her head from him and closing her eyes, as she had done just a few moments ago.

Dorio stopped and looked at her curiously for a few moments, then turned to his wolf and tilted his head in Sierra’s direction. The wolf happily continued onward, pressing his nose onto her knee when he reached her.

Sierra opened one eye and smiled when she saw the wolf. “Hello,” she whispered, grateful for an opportunity to try her skill again.

“Hello. I Kio. You are?” he barked, cocking his head at me.

“Sierra.” she whispered, keeping her frightened eyes on the wolf now that her breathing slowed, worried a glance from him would send her hyperventilating again.

“Nice name, human--I mean Sierra.” he said, glancing over at Dorio.

Sierra continued to only look at Kio. Even when Dorio kneeled in front of her. There was a pause and he gently pressed his palm to her cheek. She began to tremble again.

“P-please, don’t touch me…” Sierra whispered, closing her eyes again, her breath coming faster in the makings of hyperventilation.

“Sorry, but I need you to listen to me.” he said, and she felt his hand leave her skin.

“Listen to him. He is the good human.” Kio whimpered, walking back to his master’s side.

Still trembling, Sierra stood and faced Dorio, fearful eyes wide, fists clenched at her side. She stared at the man who had entered earlier, more wolf than human, eyes wild and savage, hair on his skin bristled. Now he looked…normal. His shaggy hair, parted down the middle and draped around his face, his pale blue eyes smiling at her while his face was expressionless.

“What do you want from me?” she demanded, trying to sound brave, but her wet eyes betrayed her.

“You are the seventh daughter of Mary Davis, also the seventh daughter. You have an extraordinary connection to animals, but only one, unlike most. Wolves. You are mentally and physically linked to wolves and canines, as they are to you. What other humans consider a bark, you can interpret into human words. Any wolf near you is smarter, their barks do mean human words. You are a Wolf Watcher. The seventh Wolf Watcher. The last. And the only one who can continue the future generations of Riolin."

Hello, meggwriting!

Since you haven't made any serious grammatical mistakes, I'll just skip the nitpicking and speak about something else instead! :D

Firstly, the whole story was really fast-paced and you wrote a very good opening paragraph --- it lured me in and beckoned me to read some more. You might be pleased to know that I liked this piece very much, and that I will read your next installment! :D

One thing I really appreciated is that you showed, instead of telling. I know it's a hard thing for a writer to accomplish that (Well, I find it really hard!) but you did. By not putting in long and lengthy descriptions, you made the whole piece really concise --- which I like in a story. Well done!

Keep writing! PM me if you have any questions. ;D

you'll never find another sweet little girl with sequined sea foam eyes
ocean lapping voice, smile coy as the brightest quiet span of sky
and you're all alone again tonight; not again, not again, not again.
and don't it feel alright, and don't it feel so nice? lovely.

Hey Megg,

Back again for part 2!

Okay, I also liked this chapter but you crammed too much here, to my opinion. I felt that the seventh daughter thing came out of nowhere, quite suspiciously exactly when we needed to know it. Maybe you could have her trying to get the cat to talk to her in the previous part, she could sigh, disappointed, but then the Wolves would talk to her and she'd be astonished. Because this happened way too fast to be believable.

That being said, I loved her reaction to Dorio, the fear she felt was real to me.

Great chapter, would you PM me for the next part?

Tanya

P.S as for being a crappy reviewer, we all were at first. Just reread the reviews you got, keep in mind what you appreciated in them, and try to replicate. Not too hard, you'll see!

Yo, Stella here!

I. NITPICKS

Upon entry, John and Garrett, along with every other man, stood up and began to move toward the strangers.

This is a very... calm sentence after the cliff you just left us on.

Sierra was the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, and had wondered why she was never able to understand animals or see ghosts, but it never bothered her.

Wow, okay, infodump right here! Firstly: you didn't tell us sevenths-of-sevenths could do this. Secondly: where are all her sisters? Why haven't they been mentioned so far?

No one noticed the wolf walking to her, and she bent down on one knee,

No one notices? What are they all doing?

“You are the seventh daughter of Mary Davis, also the seventh daughter. You have an extraordinary connection to animals, but only one, unlike most. Wolves. You are mentally and physically linked to wolves and canines, as they are to you. What other humans consider a bark, you can interpret into human words. Any wolf near you is smarter, their barks do mean human words. You are a Wolf Watcher. The seventh Wolf Watcher. The last. And the only one who can continue the future generations of Riolin."

And he just... says all this? Like that? In a big chunk? With no interruptions? Really?

It's an infodump ;)

II. CONFLICT

So! This big guy dressed in black comes into the inn- with wolves! Shock horror! What are you going to do? Run, shout, try and attack them? Watch them carefully?

Or are you going to disappear into the background while one of the wolves approaches your friend/daughter and has a nice lengthy conversation with her?

It's all a bit unlikely. You've built us up for a fight scene, so give us something. Remember your pacing. Sierra can't just stop and have a conversation with the wolves. There are other people, they're going to react, she's going to react herself. I want more emotion, I want more character interaction, I want more excitement!

III. OVERALL

There are a few infodumps in here I know you could iron out, but overall, it's pretty good!

Hope I helped, drop me a note if you need anything!
