"Yellowfoot, get your pelt out here!"
It wasn't a voice Yellowfoot knew. Heaving herself up,the aging cat shook out her coat.
"Our new leader, no doubt,"she murmured. "Let's test his measure."
She climbed stiffly down the slope, ruminating, "I should ask him for a den on the ground."
In the hollow, the pitiful remnant of RainClan huddled around a strange cat.
Not large, he still had a commanding presence. His pelt was a blur of white and gray and,
curiously, his paws were dusted by black spots.
"Are you our new leader?" she asked, never having been a cat to waste words.
He turned to face her, green eyes wide. A new warrior. "Only if you're unwilling or unfit to hold the post," he said.
Curious. "What say you?" Yellowfoot asked the assembled Clan.
Every cat but the stranger looked away. As I thought, she snarled silently. "Let's put it to the vote.
All in favor of electing this cat as leader..."
Three tails went up.
"Littlestar! Littlestar!" the Clan yowled.
"No," said the new cat. "No, I won't have it." The cheering gave way to shocked silence.
"I'm one of you now. I expect to be treated as a warrior of RainClan."
The old deputy's estimation of him went up a notch.
!! I think you need more setting. Where are they? Describe Yellowfoot walking down the path thinking about the new leader. Is it in the morning? Can he/she see the dew on the moss and remember times when he/she was a kit? Overall great job! PM me when you have the next chapter!
