Some Pretty Pictures

Here are some more photos I took over the summer. Enjoy, and any critique is appreciated!

Um, not to be like, a hazard or a buzzkill but um....there's no pictures there. Please try to post them again because I'm always interested in seeing the pictures and art that other people post.

Hello again, Sarah.

I see you've posted some more great pictures! Awesome. I had to come by and critique these for you. Your last ones were really cool. I see these are, too. Really nice work overall. But I think I'll go ahead and tell my opinion of them individually.

Photo 1: This shot is really soft looking, but none the less beautiful still. I like the stillness of the flower, where it just looks so separate from anything else. It evokes a sort of calm effect, which is nice. It's a little simple, but sometimes simple works. Right here it seems to just work.

Photo 2: I'm not as big a fan of this second shot when I first glance at it. I like the fact that you've focused in on the single flower growing out from a long stem, but the flower itself just looks a bit sad. Not as lively and striking as a rose or a tulip or some interesting flower might look in this type of shot. But I guess that's just my opinion on it. x) It's all about the subjects you decide to shoot I think. The flower you took a picture of here just seems to lack something for the shot. It's too small perhaps.

Photo 3: The fourth shot is really cool to look at. Are those some type of old checkers? That's what it seems like to me, but I could be wrong. Either way, I like it. The angle is perfect. And I like the way the light is hitting in certain spots. The game just seems to be laying around carelessly on the floor. The fact that the floor is also hardwood gives the shot some continuity both color and texture wise.

Photo 4: Though the fourth shot has a little less going on visually, I really appreciate the simplicity due to all the textures. You can see all the smooth and rough patterns against the wood grains. It's just pretty. As a picture alone, I don't think it has as much strength as it does when it's paired along with the picture before it. They look good as a pair.

Photo 5: I love the rusty lock! I'm not really too sure why, there's just something about it that comes off very rugged, and I like that. I think what makes this shot so much more visually sound is the fact that it seems to be hanging against a wooden fence of some sort. You have brilliant textures going on.

Anyway, love these shots. Great work again! I really hope to see more from you in the future.

It's hard to top off the previous comment because that was an amazing review lol. But I'll try my best to make a good review of my own.

I do have to say that I agree with what SmylinG said about the rust chain. For some reason, I was drawn to it. I think because the fuzzy or faded colors of the green grass compliments the sharpened view of the lock and chain. Also, I think it's because of the great detail found with the wood that the chain is leaning on. The lighting on the chain is amazing, and I have to say, this was my favorite out of all the pictures you took.

Now, don't get me wrong, I liked all of them. The second picture wasn't exactly the kind of reaction or connection that I had with the other pictures that you took. I can admire it in a symbolic way by saying that even the simple things can have its own beauty and complexity. Just for some reason, I can't really explain how the second picture wasn't my cup of tea.

I liked the third picture very much because you see all of the other pieces on the game board and then you have one that is not on it. The angle of the picture was excellent in this picture, as well as the first picture. I agree with SmylinG on the lighting for the third picture. The fact that it's not on the entire game board but only shown in two simple lines on it is great. I can't explain in words exactly why I admire it so much. It gives me a cool, calm feeling when I look at it, I have to say.

Heyaaaaa again, so I really loved your last lot of photos they were brilliant and so are these there all soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo magical because some of the things in the picture i.e. the padlock would not always be seen as interesting but you've made it interesting from the angle you've taken it at! They're all really good, I can see you like taking photos which is brilliant because your REALLY good at it!!!

hello there *Sarah* ,Firstly want to say i love love love these photos and i can see you have an amazing artistic view on things since you took such simple objects and made them into such an amaing picture.Photo 1 and 2 are beautiful and brings out the colour and fragileness of the flower ,i really love detail and think it plays an important role in the art of photography .Photo 3 is my favourite with photo 4 the whole scene fits together (remember the backround plays a really important part in a photo too)even though the backround is not as important a the center piece it can make or break an image ,but i love your backround and i think it fits with the center piece of your photo .NUMBER 5 yay! i love number 5 i love the chains it makes an amazing photo.I would love to see more and you have alot of talent
