Awakened to the Beginning

Thank you, I spent a while trying to make it funny.

Well, in that case, you succeeded.

Two teenage boys rushed into the library heading rowdily towards the toilets, their skate boards were held tightly to their backs by their volcom bags. I sighed enviously; right now I’d rather be skating than filing papers for new release books.

Grinding my teeth together I stared at the screen and entered in the price for the latest book the library had bought. The cover was bright with colours and erotic pictures snaking up the binder, I sighed it still didn’t interest me.

Little kids jumped around the back where the picture books were held on stands. They fussed noisily about the front covers and the characters that stared into the short stories.

I heard Linda tell them to quieten down, the sound of her high heels hit against the floor making an echoing noise as she winded her way to the front desk.
“Are you finished yet Ava?” she asked taking a library card from an elderly woman.
“Not yet, Lin” I sighed typing in another amount.
“You aren’t going home till you get those books checked on the shelves” She scanned in the old ladies book passing them through another scan which confirmed that they were being borrowed.

The old lady took them dipping her head in response.
“Okay” I muttered grabbing for another book.
“You won’t be paid over time either”
