Ashton

Ashton groaned and opened his eyes. He was sore everywhere... He sat up slowly, rubbing his temples. His body felt hot. Have I got a fever...? He didn't feel sick...

He looked around. He was in a blinding white room. He groaned and shut his eyes. It was giving him a headache already...

**Oh yeah, just so everyone knows, his eyes have gone from brown to red-and-gold streaks.**

**I'll try to make a few more posts here before I disappear, you guys can control my character at need until I get back**

Valentina

Valentina moaned and rolled onto her belly, slowly blinking her eyes open. She rubbed her eyes and a pounding headache emerged.
How long have I been asleep, sweet lord my head feels like it's about to explode.

Her hair fell into her face, and after pushing it out of the way. Valentina suddenly felt puzzled and she looked at her fingers, they were so pale as if all colour had been drained from them. She squeezed them into fists and pinched her skin to try to get some colour to emerge but nothing.
What happened here? she thought to herself.

--

Note: Her eyes are the only that retained a colour. So her overall paleness and her bright blue eyes are slightly startling.

Dylan Hawkins.

Dylan's first thought when he woke up went something like 'uuggghhhhhhhhumnumog'. His head was throbbing painfully, and his body felt heavy and cloth-like: as though his limbs were full of water.

He groaned and rolled over, wincing as aches around his body intensified. Dylan lay panting on the floor for what seemed like ages, and gradually the pain seemed to lessen, but the throbbing in his head intensified until it became unbearable. He groaned again and tried to sit up, ignoring the darting pain that shot through his temples.

Eyes tightly closed, Dylan experimented with moving his limbs. They didn't hurt any more, although a hint of the water-sodden feeling still remained. But his head hurt. He did his best to ignore it, and tried to open his eyes a crack. Ouch. The light was painful at first, but bearable. He opened his eyes slowly, and blinked a few times as he adjusted.

He flexed his limbs again, but recoiled when he saw them. An arm ... his arm ... in front of him ... it was ...

Green.

Oh, lord. An ... his arm was green. Green.

He scrambled away from the centre of the room and crouched, trembling beside the war. He could hear whimpering sounds. He looked around, deliberately looking higher than his body, to see if there was anyone else in the room.

No, no, it was just him. He breathed in deeply and tried to stop making noises. Calm down, calm down. Just ... look.

His breath was shuddering. Dylan looked down.

(Hmm, yeah, he's turned green, by the way. A sort of nice, mottled green. I'll try to find the right shade. His power will also be something to do with his head, hence the intense headache.)

Sage Kellum

I woke up with a start, and immideatly groaned at the soreness of my body.

I turned over and quickly shut my eyes, the room was way too bright, and my vision swam making me dizzy. I sat up and rubbed my eyes, when I opened them, my vision was differant, less...bright.

I shook my head, it was just the drugs. Beside me I heard others waking up, I turned to them. "Morning!" I said.

**He's turned into a wolf right now, he can turn into other animals as well.**

*Hah, Aqua, it looks like you and I both had the 'green' idea. Although, maybe not the same type of green idea. :D*

Maria

Maria woke, and was surprised to find that she felt… normal. Absolutely, completely, blessedly normal. Keeping her eyes tightly shut, she examined the world around her simply through her other four senses. She was lying on something cool and smooth, but not hard, exactly. It was almost like the time she had fallen asleep at the bar. She couldn’t hear anything, exactly, except for the murmur of undistinguished voices. The one thing that told her that she was not at home in the inn was the tinny smell of antiseptics. The smell left a bitter taste on her tounge.

As she opened her eyes, Maria found that everything was, amazingly, completely green.

What in the world -? She thought as she reached a hand up to her eyes – and screamed. There was a huge, horrible taloned thing reaching for her face. She sat bolt upright, her eyes darting this way and that, looking for the creature that was attacking her. It was nowhere in sight.

Taking slow, deep breaths, Maria raised her hand again. And didn’t scream. She wiggled her fingers experimentally. And didn’t scream. The taloned thing had been her. It seemed that she was the monster, now.

Rolling up her sleeve, she found that her entire arm was covered in small scales.

Upon touching her face, she found that it had become more slender and streamlined, and that it was also covered in scales. Her hair, it seemed, had escaped any mutation. As far as she could tell, it was still bushy, and it was still hair. Well, that’s a blessing at least, she thought, examining her new claws. But I wish that everything wasn’t green.

*Adrian Portercuss*

Adrian woke with a start. He smelled smoke. Something was burning.
He jumped up, and cupped his hands to his mouth. Then he realized just what was on fire. It was him.
He frantically started waving his hands to put them out, but he just spewed flames over the rest of himself. He was too panicked to realize that it didn't hurt.
A few minutes of frantic jumping later, he did realize just that, though. And as he calmed, his hands slowly returned to normal. He blinked, twice. "Fire." He whispered, and they erupted again. "Off." He whispered, and they simmered back to normal. He grinned. The king was fair, it seemed, after all. He shot a line of fire around the room, until he realized he had hit someone. The guard he had just hit cursed loudly. "You little... you just burnt my ear!" And a sword was put to Adrian's throat. "Fire." he whispered. The sword melted. The guard ran off, probably for help. Adrian didn't care, he was tired. Oh so tired... he fell fast asleep.

Jade

I wake up slowly from unconciousness.

"Good, your up, I thought maybe you went overboard with the Nightshade." A soldier said. I realize my head hurts. I want it to stop hurting and it does. That is just odd. I suddenly realize what has happened, I can control pain.

"Are you really sure giving her the ability to control pain was a good idea?" One soldier whispered to the other.

"I am not sure, but I didn't give it, remember. Maybe they didn't look at her history enough." The other commented. I realize one seems to be limping. I wish for any pain in his leg to be gone in a rare surge of pity.

"Thank you." He says, turning to me. I nodd, and leave the room. Most of the others are in a large, white (shockingly) room.

I can feel most of them have a headache. NOt in the mood to feel their pain, one by one I take away their headaches. I hear a few sigh in relief.

"What just happened?" The one named Sage asked.

"I got rid of your headache." I explained.

"How?" He asked.

"How do you think?" I asked, somewhat irratated.

Carla

When Carla woke, she felt fairly human... That was odd. She'd heard a lot about the Experiment House from soldiers too drugged up on painkillers to realise they were telling her everything. And yet, she was still entirely herself.

She double-checked herself, and sure enough there was nothing unusual at all. And then, as in conclusion her hands felt around her bum, she felt a rip in the fabric - she should have known better than to wear such expensive jeans to the Experiment House - and, spurting from that rip, was the tail of a wolf.

She jumped up in shock and a snarl instinctively issued from her lips.

She was a werewolf?

(FYI, Kay, I think you got a little confused. The soldiers don't choose the power that you get, they don't know if you'll even GET a power! Oh, and everyone is in separate rooms.)

Dylan Hawkins.

Greengreengreengreengreen. His entire body was green. The colour of moss. Dylan groaned and whacked his head against the wall behind him.
Guess I wasn't one of the lucky ones after all ...
And, oh, his head was killing him. He brought his hand up to the top of his head to see if anything was different. It wasn't. Except that, at his temples, his skin was boiling hot.

There was a noise at the door. Dylan scrambled up just as a soldier walked in. The soldier's face when he saw Dylan was shocked, and then slightly bored.

Another one, huh? Lord, the mutants keep on coming, don't they? A voice sounded in Dylan's head.

"Sorry?" Dylan asked, shocked.

"Uh, what?" The soldier started to back away, reaching into his pocket for something.

It's talking to me. Talking. They never talk. Usually just stare dumbly. Ack. I'll go get Darrel. Or, wait, there isn't time. I'll just - The voice sounded like the soldier's, but it wasn't spoken out loud. It ... was the soldier. But it wasn't.

Dylan took a step towards him.

"Sorry, but is that ... you?"

The soldier's eyes widened, but he took a step forward this time, drawing a knife and holding it, steady, in front of him. Dylan held up his hands.

This can't be happening, he thought, I'm a ... mutant. And what in all of Garadeth is that voice? What am I hearing. I can ... hear his thoughts?

The soldier drew out something else. It was a small bottle.

I'll just use this, he was thinking. He smashed the bottle down on the floor and before Dylan could do anything, he felt a heavy, sweet aroma surround him.

Dylan felt himself crash to the floor, and he felt the soldier's hands grab his legs and drag him out into the corridor. He felt himself being lifted, and placed into something. The last thing Dylan heard was before he blacked out completely was a trail of thought coming from the soldier.

Crazy mutants ...

Maria

“You know, this is extremely undignified,” Maria complained as the guard held her at
knife point. When, a moment before, he had opened the door and stepped into the room, Maria had whirled around like a mad thing and attacked him. It hadn’t been a conscious decision on her part. She had hardly registered the guard’s appearance when she attacked claws out and teeth bared.

Now she was back in control of herself again and shocked at what she had done. However, in a small, smug way, she was slightly amused by the fear in the guard’s face when she lunged at him.

But he had managed to subdue her, and now she stood with her back against the wall, the guard’s wicked-looking dagger at her throat. The guard began to fumble with a small bottle had withdrawn from a bag at his waist.

Maria didn’t even think. Her leg snapped up, kicking the bottle away from the stunned man. The room filled with a sickly sweet scent as the glass smashed, and Maria tried to dart out the door. Something heavy threw itself on her, pinning her down. She gasped and coughed, but the combination of the gas and the guard’s weight was too much. She passed out with relief. Anything was better than that horrible room and the sweet gas.

[b]Carla[b]

The tail crawled back into Carla's body as she calmed. So... so she had to focus her emotions to control her change? That was going to be hard - it would take all the self-control Carla didn't have.

The soldiers were watching Carla with intent interest. She glared at them and felt her teeth change into...

Fangs. So she wasn't just a werewolf, after all.

It was going to take a long time to work out just what was going on here.

Sage Kellum

Suddenly soldier burst into the room, I jumped and found myself growling at them. Growling...? I shook my head and sat back down.

One of the guards came forward shyly, as if he were afraid I was about to bite him. I tilted my head and watched him, finding nothing to say.

Suddenly, he grabbed my shoulder and ripped me off the bed, I yelped. He carried me to a door and chucked me out, I landed quickly on something...or someone.

(what is gonna happen next?)
*Adrian Portercuss*

The guard ran for help, and Adrian stayed put. He would take whatever punishment they gave him. He hadn't meant to do any wrong, but he had. A few guards came back, one holding a vial of a bubbly liquid. He uncapped it, and the most disgusting, sickly-sweet smell Adrian had ever been exposed to filled the room. Surely he wasn't to... drink that? The soldier was walking towards him. Adrian's loyalty fled, and he concentrated on escaping. He felt his body catch fire again, and the guard took a step back. With a jump, Adrian made for the door. However, he never came down. He stayed hovering in the air. His survival instincts took over as several guards drew their swords, and he swooped up and out of the room. He found himself in a long hallway, and he flew up to the rafters.Turning off his flames, he hid there until the guards ran away. Everything was different now. He needed to think things over.

((Dreamy, I do believe that Ashton and Adrian have the same/very similar powers.))

Ashton

Ashton looked up sharply as a guard entered the room. He backed against the wall. "Get away from me."

The guard ignored him and continued advancing on him. Ashton felt panic rise within him, and an instinct that he'd never felt before leapt forwards. Suddenly he was making sounds, hissing crackling noises that flew from his lips as easily as English did.

The guard's uniform caught fire. The guard let out a shout and began trying to put out the flames, swearing.

Ashton stared, shocked. Did I do that...?

The guard ran from the room. A minute later a different one came in with a vial. Ashton decided to try it again and murmured the same things, but the vial was already uncapped. The smell that filled the room made him lightheaded. He tried to move towards the guard, but every movement was like swimming in syrup. His vision swam, and he collapsed unconscious.

Guys, I have a German Exchange staying at my house for the next 10 days, so my posting will be limited. I'm crossing my fingers that you'll keep it going!

What happens next is simple: if your character is deemed a 'mutant' they are taken away in a cart (that Dylan, Sage and Maria are on) and left in the forest to fend for themselves. If they are deemed to have a good power, they'll be taken away for training. Whether your character accepts to be taken away or escapes is up to you.
