Haven
~~~~~
"Well, I guess...umm"
I looked at her for a minute, not knowing what to say. She stared at me, her hair falling around her face like a waterfall. I had an unexplainable urge to touch it.
"I guess, I'll...see you after school?"
"Yeah." she said, and we both started up the steps. When we got to the door, we both reached for the handle at the same time, and our fingers touched.
~~~~
Sorry, filler, but we had moved to the THIRD page! Gah! Ok, so I hope someone will post. Cuz otherwise, I suspect this thing just might be bordering on dead.
sigh.

Guess what, I’m going to join your group, I guess?

Name: Jaden Greene

Age: 30

Appearance: Tall and slim with dark brown hair and blue eyes. On earth, her hair is mostly worn in a bun, but as an elemental she has her hair down.

Element: Female Mentor

Personality: She is very quiet and likes to think things through before taking action. She spends time in “meditation” and some prayer to focus. She loves gardening, swimming, flying, and camping outside roasting marshmallows. Sharing knowledge with others is a strong passion of hers.

Weapon/Gift: She has a gift of knowledge and is skilled with broad swords.

History: She grew up with divorced parents and six brothers. Due to the lack of attention she was always very modest. Her confidence grew when she went to college and got her teachers certificate and phd. She was called to be a mentor at the very early age of 18. Since then she has worked as World History teacher at a New York high school, looking for the next generation of elementals.

Additional info: I’ve basically said everything about Jaden in history so there’s nothing else.

…………………….

I don’t really know what a mentor is supposed to do or be so if someone could tell me that, then great. ** breathes**

Blame me being here on Risa

A mentor is supposed to teach the kids about their powers, and give them their gifts (a peice of jewelry that helps them channel their magic) mostly, and sorta, be there, helping them, so Jaden probably needs to be a bit older. She sounds like a nice character though. :)
I'm glad you're here, and I can't wait for you to join in!

Okay I changed the profile of Jaden so it actually sounds like a mentor.

……………………..
Jaden

I stood by the window of classroom 122: world history. The students were walking up to the main entrance of the school, whether they had ridden busses or walked from the subway or from their homes. New York was the strangest place I had ever been, but a call in the back of my heart has led me here. I do not yet know why.

It amused me to see one particular couple that morning. You could see the embarrassment in their eyes and yet a strange comfort. As the boy and girl tried to make conversation the first bell had rung already, stopping the amusing show and forcing them to enter.

I groaned at the annoying off key ring of the bell and went to my cluttered desk. The first day of the school year and my school desk was already a mess. Messiness didn’t bother me that much, but when it was from disorganization then I was easily annoyed. My desk represented disorganization, causing me to flinch and scramble around and tidy it up. The students would be entering soon and I didn’t want to be caught unawares.

Soon the second bell had rung and students of different grades and ages walked in the classroom. I had not placed a seating chart so the instinctively found desks. My eyes had drawn attention to the same couple of this morning. They were sitting by the isle, one on one side and the other on the opposite side.

Once everyone had taken their seat, I stood up from my desk and walked to the front of the room.

“Good morning class!”

………………………..

Sorry if that was a bit long and drawn out, but I didn’t know how to start. Also, what is the other worlds name and are the kids going to the world by the letters? I thought of this idea about them finding letters in their lockers, but if you don’t want to do that then okay.

Oh, that's great! I love Jaden, she seems like such an interesting character. And idk about the letters, I don't think we actually figured it out, but letters in the lockers sound good. I'll PM everybody tomorrow, to see what they think, and which ones are still planning on posting, lol.
No time to post right now, (Haven's asleep and I should be too. :)) but I'll try for something tomorrow. I'm so glad to have you on the RPG! :)
Goodnight!

(Jaden)

After my little greeting of good morning, I could tell that this classroom was filled with somewhat chatty and hormone-overflowed teenagers. You could sense it in their presence and also by the fact that no one heard me.

“Good Morning Class!” I said a little louder. They were still talking. I smirked evilly and walked over to the chalkboard. Taking my unusually long fingernails, I placed the end of them onto the clean black board. I scraped the tips down and across the board for a minute or so, drawing the attention of everyone in the class.

When I had finished, there was a loud uproar from some of the class. I placed my fingernails on the board again, silencing everyone. My smirk did not fade away as I nodded my head in approval and then started writing on the board a list of countries from Europe.

As I was writing I could sense some manner of mischief. The crinkling of paper caught my ears, but I “paid no mind” to it. Once the crinkling stopped the whistle of air behind paper hurtled towards the back of my head. The person just set themselves up big time!

I spun around in a second and caught it lightly in my fist. The eyes of many in the class grew wide and their mouths dropped.

I looked at the piece of paper and carelessly threw it in the basket. Every eye was planted on me and I knew I had earned some respect right then and there.

“Well, now that that mischief is done and over, I would like you to come up and receive a book for this class. Once you have one, you will write your name neatly in the cover and then turn to page 47. Come up now, if you’ll please.” I pointed to a stack of books on a near by desk. A few people groaned as they got up, but made no out right complaint. This was going to be fun…

…………………………………..

Okay, I have a question. I know we are winging the story, but what is the “other world” going to be named? I’d like to know… : )

((hehe…Elise, this probably isn’t what you meant when you said Haven was asleep, but I take things literally (when it makes life more interesting *hehe*) sooo….))

{Erica}

I tried not to laugh as Haven’s breath came a little deeper, his head on his textbook and his eyes closed. I had the same want to sleep, but I watched the birds outside our window fly from tree to tree. Then I heard the familiar sound of water against glass. It had started to rain. A few of my classmates groaned, but I stared unceasingly at the rain.

I let a smile play on my lips and I closed my eyes, letting my mind drift into deeper waters. Without really knowing, but being aware, I let my head fall gently onto my crossed arms.

It had been a strange day. Someone had willingly talked to me. I tried to shut out the dark thoughts deep in my mind that the rain had brought from the depths, succeeding for the most part. But then thunder shook the school and I flinched. Someone screamed and I heard laughter.

Images of war passed in front of my eyes. Lighting flashed again, images of bombs blowing a searing heat into the faces of comrades…

A hand touched my shoulder and I shot up, looking around to see Haven looking at me strangely. A loud mummer settled through the room.

“Afraid of thunder?”

“Uh…yeah…I got caught in a thunderstorm as a child, in the woods. Uh…at my…uh…grandma’s house. Sorry…” I realized how much I sounded like I was lying, which I was, so I tried to amend it. “I tend to stutter when I storms. I guess I sound like a scared little kid, huh?”

Guilt started to seep into me, but I ignored it. My life was already a web of lies. One more wouldn’t hurt.

Yay! Risa's back! :)

Haven
~~~~
"No, you don't. And it's fine to be afraid of storms. My si-" I stopped, looking away. "I don't really like storms either." I murmured, lying. I really loved the rain. But if I continued on my first sentence, she would start asking questions. I wasn't ready to answer them yet.
I smiled at her softly. I started to say something, but the all thoughts left my mind when I heard the loud screeching of nails on a chalkboard.
"Aah!" I winced out loud, covering my ears with my hands. After years of listening for pitch and tone, something so loud and...sonic sounding made me see stars.
The awful sound carried on for about a minute. When it stopped I looked up to see Erica smiling at me.
"Sensitive, princess?" she whispered, grinning. I pretended to glare, then with a king of England accent, murmured, "Yes, I do believe I am."
She grinned, giggling silently.
All I can write for now.
I don't know what we should call it. Any ideas?
“It’s just a bit of thunder, people.” Miss Green smirked at us, taking her nails off of the chalkboard. Haven sighed in relief. “And unless any of you know what year the Chinese started to build the Great Wall and how many died building it and what went on before it was built, I suggest you listen.”
A few students started to complain until Miss Greene put a hand on the board. Once again, she turned her back to us. And, once again, I stared out the window, or rather, at the window.
Drops of water found their own paths down the glass. They fell individually, sometimes colliding and joining together. It was an art that nobody but me seemed to understand. A living, breathing art that changed whenever gravity decided to pull or the wind blow. It was water, something that with we could not live without, yet could destroy us at the same time.
The thunder crashed throughout the room. I blinked, letting out a shaky breath. Dad. I felt eyes on me and looked to see Haven giving me a worried look. I gave him a small smile.
Lighting surged and the lights flickered out. Thunder followed almost immediately.
Bombs, gunfire. Death. I gasped loudly, keeping back sudden, unbidden, tears. And urge to play guitar flooded through me.
“Crap.” Someone muttered. The lights were still out.
“This is the first day of school…not happening.” Miss Greene muttered. A murmur settled though the room. Distract yourself, Erica, distract yourself. He’ll be fine…
A screech silenced everybody, and I glanced at Haven. His eyes were closed and his hands were over his ears. My heart went out to him. Sounds were his life, weren’t they?
I gulped and raised my hand.
“Miss Greene, I suffer from migraines and you doing that is starting one up. Please…” the room was still silent.
((Yes, I am back *bows* I missed you guys…except for maybe Jade…I see her everyday. I’ve been busy convincing Jade…gulp..en that we needed her. *love ya Jade!* And I have absolutely no idea. Let me think…AGGHHH IT BURNS US!...thinking isn’t my strong point hehe…seriously, I have no idea.))
The teacher kept doing that infernal screeching! The second time it was so loud I thought I'd pass out from the pain in my head.
What was wrong with me? What was so bad about that sound?
I mean, I was sensitive, but I didn't usually make such a fuss over it. Thankfully, Erica-who had been looking distressed for some reason- raised her hand and politely told the teacher to knock it off.
Thank you Erica, you are my savior. I thought as I smiled at her through the darkness.
Mrs. Greene sighed and put her hands down.
"It's only thunder, people. Nothing to be worried about. I'm sure the lights will come on in a second." she said.
Only thunder...nothing to be worried about. The words played in my head as we sat in silence.
I don't believe in ghosts. But I do believe that words can haunt you. I closed my eyes, my throat constricting. In my mind, I saw myself, six months ago.
"Haven! Haven!"
"What?" I said to the little girl before me, smiling.
"Sing for me!" Alie said, grabbing my hands.
"Allie, we don't have time! We've gotta go!"
"where?" she said, looking up at me, the epitome of innocence.
"If we wanna get to Wal-Mart and back before mom and dad get home, we have to leave, now."
"But...Haven...it's raining. And thundering." she said, her beautiful blue eyes going wide and her lip beginning to tremble.
"Aaw, baby, it's just thunder. Nothing to be worried about." I said, pulling her into a hug.
"Y-you sure?" she said softly.
"Absolutely. Would I let anything happen to you, beautiful?"
She giggled. "Uh-uh!" she yelled, pulling out of my embrace to dance to the door, singing 'duh-duh-doo-dah-doo' to the tune of 'In the Name of Love', her favorite song that mom didn't know I let her listen to.
I smiled as I followed her to the door, grabbing my dad's keys off the kitchen counter as I went.
I gasped slightly when the flashback finished, my head spinning.
I hoped to all that was good that I wasn't crying.
Because I sure felt like I could.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

There. Angst. Now I can sleep, lol.

What about Lochley, Eniyeth, Veernara, or Bernu for the world name? (Names from a story I was writing that I never finished, lol.)

Risa, if you had read my post you would find that we are learning about Europe, not China! Great now I have to change my teaching lesson *thank you very much* : P

………………………….
Jaden

Erica had asked me to stop my scratching of the chalkboard which I only did twice. Then the lights went out.

Oh great.

“Perfect,” I muttered. “It’s only thunder people! I’m sure the lights will come on any second. Since we can’t read in the dark and I am not in the mood on a lecture today, I suggest you all take this time to either sleep or talk a bit. But if the sound level gets too loud I will make you work in the dark. Understood?”

A chorus of “yes Ms. Greene” simultaneously sounded through the classroom. Then they all went to their own business.

Now what was interesting was that I could tell two figures out of the darkness more then the rest. Both were boys but one was lighter than everyone else, that is to say that he was illuminated a tiny bit. The other one was darker than the rest of the darkness in the room (that sounds so cheesy) and some of the room’s darkness was drawn to him.

I scrambled around in my desk trying to find the tool I needed. I eventually found it under a big book of Europe. I placed my very fragile glasses on the end of my nose and saw it.

Element signatures.

…………………….
I seee yooou Haven and Twili. Muahahahaha!

I personally like Eniyeth for the world’s name. But that is just my input.

Lilith Jade~

Lilith skidded to a spot in front of the door of World History and reached for the handle, taking in a deep breath and opening. She slipped her excuse into the teacher's hand and took a seat next to Twili, smiling and opening her text book, a tad nervous that she would get in trouble.

{Erica}

Lilith slid into her seat, smiling at Twili. She looked nervously at Miss Greene, who was fiddling with something on her desk. Teachers.

The lights flickered on and I let out a small sigh. School wasn’t really classified as “the most enjoyable time of your life.” Or was it? No…that was the best years of your life. Still lookin’ for those years.

I closed my eyes, waiting for it to end. Thunder shook the school again. I opened my eyes, my fingers aching to burn with pain as I play guitar. My dad’s guitar.

He wrote a song before he went away, and it played on my silent lips as chalk started to stain Miss Greene’s board.

Rain falls down
Kissing your smiling face
Laughter escapes your lips
And I forget that the sun isn’t shining…

Laughter broke my chain of thought.

“Erica.” Someone nudged my sholder, “Warsaw.”

“Warsaw?” I said a little too loudly. What was he talking about?

“Correct.” Oh…she’d asked me a question. Crap. I hate school.

“Thanks.” I whispered back. Then I smiled at him. He smiled back…sort of. There wasn’t that light that people get in their eyes when they smile. It was kind of the opposite. It looked like he mightcry or something.

I wanted to ask him what was wrong, but for some odd reason, I didn’t want to see Haven any more distressed. Like someone wouldn’t want to see in a friend. A friend.

I stopped thinking, always a good decision, and forced myself to watch European countries and their capitals appear on the board.

“What happened to China?” I asked Haven in a whisper.

“Apparently, we’re doing that in a few weeks. I think she likes confusing us.”

“Of course she does.” I muttered. He grinned.

So Eniyeth it is! It was actually the name for a very springy, ethereal country in my book.

Do you guys want to go ahead and find the letters and get moving? Or is it to early? Tell me, and I'll post.
