I watch you. Yes, I know how that sounds. You have an image of me now, don't you? I would. Classic infatuated geek. Pale, wearing a green cable-knit sweater, wiry glasses that don't fit my moon-shaped face. You're wrong, but that's alright. I don't watch you from behind an advanced calculus book and write our names entwined on its torn pages. I would like to, of course. But I like to pretend I don't need anyone. Occasionally i write your name surrounded by hearts, but only late at night when the moon glints in the sky like a floating raindrop. I write it on a page of old Basic Algebra notes and then tear the page up quickly. I try not to be a cliche, you see. I consider myself above the average obsessed school girl. An arrogance on my part, a feeling of superiority that is entirely undeserved.
I watch you across the smoke filled rooms that we swatch our lives go by in. Rooms with action figures on the windowsills, The Beatles posters on the wall and tequila hidden in the wardrobe are the rooms in which my adolescence have been spent. I seem to always be around boys and all the girls hate me bacause I am that girl who always hang aorund with boys. I have seen you with boxers on your head playing air guitar. I don't have a chance in hell. Other, more attractive boys sit beside me on the couch and whisper comments in my ear that I would otherwise find witty. However, when you are in the room I find myself more entranced with the tendrils of black hair that hit the top of your black t-shirt.
Most people when asked to describe you eye color would say "Grey? Maybe blue? Both?". I know they are the exact color of raindrops just before dawn. I have seen a hundred boys smoke. Yet everytime you do it, I get chills. You look just like a rockstar and yes, I know how that sounds, too. All the girls throw themselves at you. They whisper their crushes to me. Ask me who you like, where you'll be next friday night, if they have a chance. Afterwards we drink vodka and make fun of them. Everytime we do that, my stomach hurts after from forcing laughter. I am one of those girls. I can't stand the thought that I would be just another groupie.
Your presence, or lack thereof, can make or break my night. Without you, my night is just another spent in good company, drinking coke and playing pool. When you are there, the night takes on whole new meaning, becomes a game, an opportunity. I have never had anyone control me liek this, so unknowingly, so easily. I live to make you laugh and I would give anything to make that feeling go away. I hope everyday that I will break free from the love that binds me to you and everyday I am again disappointed. You are the only boy I have loved who hasn't loved me back and you are the only one that has ever mattered.
I know that sometimes I will love people and they will not love me back. I know that sometimes no matter how hard I love you or how hard I try to make you love me, you will not feel the same. I know that I will have to accept that. I don't feel ready to let go of my feelings for you, no matter how much it tears me apart. I will just sit here, beneath the moon, smoking your cigarettes and listening to your voice. Because the only person that heals the pain you give me is you. And, yes, I know how that sounds.

Talk about truth.

Your descriptions were very vivid, I could smell the smoke, hear the girls whispering their crushes, and see the guys' expressions as everyone made fun of the girls. I especially liked how your last sentence wrapped it all together.

Only thing that needs fixing is your spelling.

Other than that, great story. I really enjoyed it.

This is fantastic. I can't tell you just how much this rings true. You did such a great job of capturing the emotions involved. I think that the only suggestion that I would have is to break up some of the paragraphs to make the reading a little easier, but even that isn't neccesary; you do such a fabulous job of keeping the reader hooked.

I'm just so amazed at how well you managed to get the emotions of the situation down on paper... Maybe it was just because I've been there and know what it's like to wake up every day knowing that he won't look at you any differently than he has for the past year, but the entire situation just jumps off the page at you. The lines about not wanting to be cliche really drove it home for me.

Really... Fantastic job, Chanson! Keep up the good work!

I think its a great piece of writing, it kept my eyes glued to the screen and blocked out the T.V lol. I like how you describe things but I don't think it gives the reader a great connection with the character, but that could just be me or how you wanted it to be. After all it said she liked to think she didn't need anyone so maybe that's what you wanted it to be like for the reader? Sorry if it's not.

There's one sentence I didn't understand

I watch you across the smoke filled rooms that we swatch our lives go by in. Rooms with action figures on the windowsills, The Beatles posters on the wall and tequila hidden in the wardrobe are the rooms in which my adolescence have been spent.

I didn't understand the bit in bold, did you me "watch our lives go by"? I also liked the way you described the room with action figures and posters on the wall. It was easy to build up a clear picture of a setting or give a glimpse of her life.

I saw one grammatical error, I don't normally comment on grammar because mines so bad but I thought this was easy to spot and if it was fixed it would make your story that much better. In a place you've spelt like as liek, I know this sounds picky but I do think if your spag was perfect then your stories would be that much better.

Anyway I'm sorry that's not very helpful, I really liked this piece and can't wait to read more of your work :D

It's great. It really felt like I was there by the way you discribed it. I liked the way you told the chapter and did not see much wrong. My only suggestion is that you make more paragraphs instead of just one big one. I agree with Duskglimmer and Dreaming mouse about the errors. Like I said before great job, and I can't wait to read more.

This is a very good start to a best-seller if you decided to make it a novel. Of course there are the usual typos, which are number two enemy, right next to writers block. There were a couple of grammatical errors, but opposed to others I wont point everyone out because I am not your mother and you are not five. It was a great start as I said, and unlike others it could be spanned out, but it is also just fine the way it is.

Hi Chanson,

I have to say, I really love this piece. It's so beautifully written and it connects to the reader almost instantly. I also love the very first sentence it's like, okay, stalker... but it goes on and becomes something anyone can relate to.
I did catch one typo though.
I have never had anyone control me liek this, so

I'm pretty sure you meant like, haha.
I liked the ending, it wasn't cheesy or whatever it was the truth. I could understand why she'd want to hang on for that little while longer and then whenever she was ready, she could let go. Anyways, it was realistic and she had a very understanding voice, she knew what situation she was in.
Good job!
