I lay and look up at my ceiling
because it is the only thing i can look up to
tears run down my cheeks landing in my ears
and each tear is filled with a dream or a wish
in one of those tears is a wish
for someone to kiss my pain away
In one of those tears is a dream
that i will make a difference
my name will be remembered
I will be the poster on your kids wall
and the one to catch you if you fall
if i'm not there physically
i promise i'll be there spiritually
In one of those tears is a dream
that i will feed hungry blacks in Africa
because America is to selfish to feed the ones
on their concrete roads to hell
if you heard right i said blacks NOT colored
i hate to say that the ones who call them colored are the ignorant ones
the ones who call them colored are probably the ones who turn
red in the sun
pale when sick
and purple when they cough

In one of those tears is a voice saying
i wish poetry was more important than alcohol
i wish poetry was more important than alcohol
i wish love was more valuable than alcohol
In one of those tears is a dream
that i will stop learning about the pasts mistakes
and start being taught how i can make a better future
I want our free spirits to float in the clouds
even above the ninth one
In one of those tears is a dream
that you will think of every struggling individual
before you lay in your comfortable bed
what do you think when you find out a mother or father doesn't get the chance to say good bye
or when a north, east, south, west gang member questions why should i try
and end up dropping out at the age of 16
or when a 15 year old girl is pregnant when her life hasn't started yet
and she has to raise the baby on her own
I want to remember the cacophony of laughter
and the invisibility of tears that never came down my face
as i'm falling asleep my tears stop
because i'm thankful for what i have
and if i die before i wake
i pray the lord my soul to take

*Note that its a performance piece, so there is more emphasize in my voice when i speak! (: Thanks!

Oh, this is great!
I just think that stanzas are needed here. My idea is:

There are some punctuation missing too. Oh, and substitute "i" for "I", right?
Anyway, this is a really good poem. I honestly like it!
I'm sorry if I couldn't be more helpful, or if anything I said here sounded offensive, my intention was only to help you.
Congratulations for your amazing poem, and keep writing!

Hi there!

I really like this poem. It's quite unique and is very interesting. It flows well and is quite catchy. You said you were going to read this aloud, yes? Well, maybe you could record it and put a video on youtube or something? I really wanna hear you say it. :) But from a writing point of view, I have a couple of nitpicks. First off, you should always capitalize the letter 'I' when it's by itself. Also, you should always capitalize the name Lord, or whenever you are referring to God/Jesus Christ.

Overall I really enjoyed reading this. Keep writing!

This poem is beyond beautiful! I love the ideas in this poem; I got goose bumps as I read some of your lines, especially when you preformed it!!! You are an amazing poet and don’t let anyone tell you different. And I know that you don’t write poems so that they can be grammatically correct, which I love because it shows that you care more about the contents of the poem then it being grammatically excepted! The subjects that you write for, Change, is an amazing topic, especially because of the person you are, loving, caring, hopeful…. You know that I love all of your poems! And that I love you!!!!

P.S-Don’t let anyone tell you how to write, write the way that you like, that works for you!!!!!!!!!
