Standing next to her. Feeling her cool breath wash over my face. Now I knew where I belonged. I struggled in effort, but finally managed to grasp her hand. We stared in to the stars. "Forever," I agreed.
It was so far, the best day of my life.
The meadow was as beautiful as ever; green, shiny, and smelled like buttery popcorn.
I reached my hand over my head to flip my hair out of my face. You might be some ordinary kid now, but one day, you could be famous. I believed my dad, I believed in him.
My father was my role model. He looked just like me, only more muscular, and a lot more ugly. Maybe the reason I was tan, was because of the hours I would spend in this meadow. Probably also why my hair was blond. What I didn't understand, was why my eyes were so white. What normal person has snow colored eyes?
I sat mumbling more things about me that were nonsense, when I heard a strange noise in the trees.
I looked over at my sister, who was still doing her tricks. She was always doing these gymnastics tricks. She was currently doing a front flip, easy with her skinny, teenager body. I never did understand why she was so talented in those things, while I wasn't. Yet, I was just a seven year old.
I chuckled to myself still looking at my sister.
Next thing I knew, there was a gunshot. Lena fell to the ground, her long brunette hair lying across the river.
I raced over there, and a lizard climbed onto my leg. I shook it around, but it stayed clung on. I just forgot about it and sprung my body across Lena's.
"Lena!" I cried. "Wake up please!"
"Doug, call mom," she pleaded. I nodded and pulled the phone from my pocket. I quickly dialed and she picked up almost immediately. "Mom, get down to the meadow. Now, please!"
While I sat crying to myself, I stared back at the purple, long lizard.
Still, hanging on.
I saw a face in the woods, and I stood up to go chase it. The shadows disappeared, and I still raced after them. There was gunfire, and I found myself on the ground. I screamed bloody murder and stared into the horrible, dark twenty feet long trees.
A feint voice from afar whispered to me slowly as I took his last breath,KILL, and I looked at his knee, only to find the lizard, still haunting my leg.
I woke up slowly in the hospital, but I didn't feel like me. I felt like someone more courageous, stronger, faster, just plain... better.
Next to my frosted bed, lay my sister. She was still unconscious. I got out of my bed and attempted, unsuccessfully, to get into the little boys' room.
So I had to scream, and finally, I was allowed to go to the bathroom. The doctor really seemed upset with me.
In the bathroom I was "taking care of business" when i noticed how hard my skin was. I wondered if the lizard was still on my knee.
I bent my head over to check, and just as I knew it would happen, the lizard was gone. I sighed in both relief and disappointment.
I grinned to myself, ha ha, I could be the lizard boy if it was still there. Yeah, Lizard Boy.
