Ok, so whenever I write on Microsoft word, it always corrects me when I say "laid," it says I should use "lay." Now, I always write in past tense, and I think that "lay" sounds more like present tense. So, should it be: "I laid down," or "I lay down." Again, this is for past tense. It's just really been bugging me for a long time. I just want to clear it up so it doesn't bug me anymore. Thanks.
That question has ALWAYS bothered me. My teachers are always telling me, "Now honey, it's 'lay', not 'laid' or 'lie' or 'lain'." (I'm not even sure if 'lain' is a word!)
And I honestly have no idea what the answer is, so I'm going to be a good little girl and click on Wilder's link!
