Writers' walk off anyone?! Just kidding, new here

Hey, so I've just joined this society as Ive finally finished my first collection of short stories (which can actually be seen as a chopped up memoir, as they're all true and more or less span in the same years), and right now I have no idea what to do next!

So i figured I'd say Hi to other struggling new writers, may we all succeed.

Also, for a conversation topic, or something, I'd like to hear your opinions on a subject. I don't really read current literature, my favs are jack kerouac, hemingway, bukowski, james joyce, william burroughs, sylia plath, graham greene, ginsberg, etc.. I would like to know what nowadays authors you would think I would like after knowing my taste..

Hi and welcome! Sorry I can't help you with the book thing, as I have read approximately zero of those authors (although I did once watch a rather amusing video of Ginsberg performing at our school in the 80's). But I know we have some more classic-loving users around here that can give you some recommendations. And you can always check out the Book Reviews forum.

Wow? Short stories? =P I suck at those. Congrats! I'd suggest brainstorming for random ideas just to keep yourself writing, and waiting for the next good idea (the one who want to work on) to come to you. Also, post some of your work here and get feedback! ^_^

o.O I feel like I should spend more time in Chapters, since I have no idea who any of those authors are. =P Maybe tell us what genre you like? (for those of us who obviously need to read more)

Normaly I'd tell you to PM me if you needed a crit or had a question, but I am technically 'not here' due to an exam, so if you have any questions PM anyone with a blue name like mine! It's our job to be helpful. ^_^ Though you can always PM me with something you'd like critiqued and I'll get to it when I have to chance.

As to a good book.....well I've only ever read Sylvia Plath from that list. Perhaps check out the 'Book Reviews' forum on here? That way you can see some popular books as well as those that others can recommend.
