Hi all,

As you probably know, I've been hanging around this board for a little while, but I don't think anyone really knows much about me. Well, if you do want to know, keep reading! :D

My name is Casey (not a terribly interesting name...) I have been homeschooled my whole life until this year, when I entered into public high school for the first time. I'm a senior, so I will only be there for one year, whoot!
It was very strange going to school. I am not used to the gritty, harsh nature of the teenagers there. Everywhere I look I see drug pushers, girlfriends and boyfriends slobbering over each other, horrible language being thrown around in casual conversation. It's a little frightening, but I try not to focus on it too much.

I started writing at about 7 or 8 years old. My first story consisted of a pair of cats who went sailing and had all sorts of adventures. My second story was a finished, full length tale about a man named Robert who lived with a group of green and red dragons. After that story, I created a string of novels, if you can call them that, with Robert and his friends, which included everything from unicorns to dragons to cats and mice.

Writing is addictive to me. I write whenever I have a few minutes to spare. I bring a small journal to school and write between pauses in my teacher's lectures. I write bits of stories I have in my head, and I write down ideas for new stories. Most people don't understand why I love to write all the time. After all, they hate writing, because that's what they do in school all day!

I prefer to write romance, thrillers and dark fiction. I'm not big on fantasy, unless it is VERY well written, without hundreds of unpronounceable names, countries, and endless songs. I like to write stories about death, depression and sadness. No fluff for me. Life isn't a bowl of cherries after all, now, is it? :P I have never written any "official" novels, and by official I mean well thought out with a good plot. I have trouble thinking of really good, fresh plots that would work in a novel. All the ideas I have are usually based off other books I have read. It is really frustrating and it makes me feel very un-creative.
However, I do like to write short stories. If I were to publish anything anytime soon, I would probably publish a collection of short stories.
I am working on a fanfiction novel, though, based on Phantom of the Opera. It's 33 chapters so far, and I am very happy about it, but I would love to write something original someday.

My favorite book so far is Cold Mountain by Charles Fraizer. I love historic novels, and I also enjoy reading about the Civil War. I find it incredibly interesting.

Besides being a writer, I am also an artist, a musician, and a photographer. As an artist, I enjoy drawing in pencil (still not used to painting, but I'm getting there). I play the piano and the drums both for fun and for my music ministry at my church. I am also very obsessed with photography; I own a Canon Rebel XT which I take with me everywhere should that certain one of a kind shot pop up.

However, my dream career is not directly related to these interests. This year I was accepted to a theater conservatory to study technical theater. I am so excited, because it's what I've wanted to do for a long time.
I have been involved in technical theater for almost 5 years now. I first got into theater after discovering the musical The Phantom of the Opera, still my all time favorite show. I became obsessed (still am) and my piano teacher suggested getting into tech theater, since I am not interested in acting.

My life changed after I volunteered on crew at a local theater. I knew what I wanted to do for my career. I worked at two different theaters for two different companies, and just recently I started working at my high school's theater on theater staff. I want to become either a stage manager, a sound/lighting designer or a set designer. It is my passion. I can't imagine living without the theater.

Well, that's pretty much all there is to say about me. Thanks for reading, and I hope you didn't fall asleep!

Ooo, so you like Cold Mountain?

You sound a lot like my little sister, she's heavily into the theater.

And to me, Casey's an interesting name. I certainly don't know any!
please grant me my small wish; (love me to the marrow of my bones)

Hiya!!

I love the theater too and have seen a few west end productions. Phantom is probably the best I've seen, you can't beat that feeling you get when you leave the theater (that buzz).
Have you seen Wicked? I loved it!!

Nice to meet you,
Alainna

Sanity is for the unimaginative.

Got YWS?

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backwards. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that life's going to launch you into something great, so just focus and keep aiming.
