Welcome New Members! [3]

Hello and welcome to YWS, newcomers! If you've stumbled across this thread, you should definitely make a post to introduce yourself! Or you can make an individual thread, it doesn't matter to us. :) YWS is a writers' site, and if you just so happen to be a writer, then this is the place for you! We currently have over twenty eight thousand members (28306 to be exact), so as you can see, we have a very popular site that grows and grows everyday! My name is Iggy and I'm a moderator of the site! Any person in this color , this color , and this color is a moderator of the site, so please don't hesitate to PM them if you need help. Users in this color and this color are people who used to serve on the mod squad but have retired. You can find the official list here . Now, let's get some guidelines and rules out of the way:  We like proper English. That is, we don't substitute "da" for "the," we don't say "im" for "I'm," we don't say "u" for "you," and we expect you to capitalize each word of every sentence in your regular posts. Typos can happen, but don't start talking like you're texting. We're crazy like that. To earn points, you must review. And to submit works, you must have points. It's the circle of YWS! If you're having trouble writing a good review, read http://www.youngwriterssociety.com/viewtopic.php?f=187&t=57651. Make sure you mark your review as a review, or else you won't get points! We want you to rate your story or poem. That way, it can show up on the front page and everybody can see it. ^_^ If you have an f-word in your story or it's particularly explicit, rate it 18+. It won't show up on the front page, but people will know what they're getting into. Titles should have no curse words or all caps in it, so please refrain from DOING THIS and use asterisk (*) to censor your curse words appropriately. You can find the official rules here . A useful FAQ to read can be found here . Now that all of that is out of the way, let's start introducing ourselves! Oh, and once again, welcome to your new home. :)

Well, hello everybody. I've been a member for a few months now, but haven't really gotten active until these last couple of days. I'm in my twenties, and I'm here to write satire, and fanfic on old cartoons.

Hi Everyone:

My name is Paige and I am 18 years old. I have been writing since I was 13, and have decided to take the next step and work towards becoming published. I hope I can receive some good feedback on my novel on here.

Hello! My name is Lara and I'm sixteen years old. I'm really hoping I can get some useful feedback on this site...sorry if I'm a bit shy. I may be a bit awkward or seem a bit weird at first but I love talking to new people!

@sinistercutlass - it's never too late to get active

Fanfics of old cartoons sounds interesting! Which ones have you written about so far?

@paye97 - it always makes me happy to see others who want to get professional about their writing :3 If you need something reviewed or just feel like chatting about publishing or agents or whatever, feel free to PM me~

@Laradear - I'm sure you'll meet a bunch of new people and get tons of feedback in no time

Don't worry about being weird, awkward or shy -- a lot of us are just like that, and the community of YWS is very understanding when it comes to it c:

Welcome, all of you~

Hey AriaAdams,

Thanks for your interest. I'm writing a fanfic prequel to Disney's "Aladdin", which is heavily inspired by the science fiction epic "Dune".

The second is a shorter, humorous fic, which crosses over "The Mask" with Jim Carrey, and "Batman: The Animated Series". It's called "This Business of Love". Five chapters are up on this site so far. I haven't posted my Aladdin fic yet, but it is called (perhaps not very creatively) "A Tale of Two Sorcerers: The Coup D'etat".
