The Truth Hurts

“You two must be the twin brothers, Cesar and Alex.” said the stranger pointing at the twins. “As much as this is a shock to me I’m sure that you will find the news even more devastating.” The stranger hesitated before blurting out “I am your Grandfather, your dads dad.”

By this remark the world seemed to stop, birds had stopped there tweeting, the sun had fled behind the dull clouds and everything nice in the world had vanished. But this wasn’t true; it was just the thoughts that twirled inside the stunned twins heads. Alex stared in horror at his brother, looking for support. But none came.

“You lie!” spat Alex, as he pulled out his bow and slotted in one of his many feathered arrows.

“Why would I lie, and even if I did why would I suddenly come up to two boys that I have never met and tell them I’m there long lost grandfather.” replied the stranger.

Still neither of the twins was convinced that this man was who he said he was. Cesar had now unsheathed his knife, gripping it tight at his side. Rain had suddenly exploded from nowhere, drenching the three of them from head to toe.

“We need solid proof” demanded Cesar.

“Ok, ok, now if this doesn’t work, I’m dammed...” replied the stranger. He pulled out a parchment out of his black cloak and handed it to the boys. It read…

Dear Cesar & Alex Falcon.

I am writing on behalf of your mother, who in her dying words said this…
‘Cesar’ she said. ‘You will lie in my soul forever, and that it will never rest until it knows you are safe. I have named you, Cesar, because of the great emperor Cesar. Your soul will become neither good nor evil but your heart will stay pure, and the angels from above will grant you there guardianship. I wanted you to have this dagger as memory of me; I had, had it made especially for you, before I passed away. Forged in the northern mountains this blade will act as your shield and in time together you will act as one. Cesar listen to what I am about to tell you, never ever leave it lying around at all times keep it at your side. In the wrong hands, unimaginable things will unfold.
Alex when I saw your beautiful eyes, I knew I had been blessed by the gods. Your heart is as pure as gold and your soul restless. You will never put yourself before others, and love will become your strongest weapon. I had dream that a bow in your hands would be wise. So not a moment too soon I had a bow made especially for you from the people that populate the southern mountains. The arrows will point you in the right direction and trust your bow; it will never let you down. Your arrows will end many lives but will save far greater.

Love mum

Life after the death of your mum was never the same. But for thirteen years, we managed. But life was to empty without your mother and my soul was never whole again and my heart split in two. One side of my heart wished to stay with you but the other was begging for mercy, for an easy way out. Don’t think that not once did I not think about you when I was attaching the rope. I thought of you every second that went by and in the end I thought it was for the best. In the state I was in, I was unable to properly look after you. When I have passed away to be with your mother you will go and live with your aunty Marie, you will stay with her until my dad arrives, he will give you this note and then take you to the western province and there you will seek out priest Arthur Lishore, there is some unfinished business I would like you to attend to. Your mother pleaded me not to send you to the priest, but what must be done must be done. Once there you will wait for further instructions. Just tell him the name Percy falcon and he should welcome you, if not then he is no longer the man I once knew. Beware there is an unsettling evil that lurks there, be on your guard and KEEP OUT OF THE SHADOWS.

Lots of love

Dad

p.s My sister may seem a little strange at first but in time you will get to know her.

The dark clouds, unleashed their fury upon the two boys, masking the tears that trickled down there cheeks. Cesar dropped the letter, before, him and Alex fell into the arms of there Grandfather, there only family left. Sobbing as he clenched them hard, saying words of comfort. The boys mourned for five long heart wrenching minutes over learning the truth of their mother and fathers death, before backing away. Their heads were dropped and sounds of sniffling overpowered the ear piecing of the thundering rain.

“We should start to head off for shelter now.” said Cornelius Falcon (Grandfather) with a hint of concern in his voice.

The boys didn’t say anything but reluctantly followed Cornelius, but then they suddenly stopped to a halt. Rustling could be heard close by, then it happened. Three men in black cloaks soared out of the trees; one wrestled Alex to the ground; the other made a sharp kick towards the side of Cesar’s head, knocking him out cold. But Cornelius was smart and fairly strong for his age, and he predicted the remaining assassin, to pull out a weapon. He waited calmly for the assassin to make his lunge, and when he did, he side stepped and did a sharp thrust towards the attacker’s temple. But the assassin was not as stupid as Cornelius thought so he ducked, and plunged the dagger deep into Cornelius’s leg. Cornelius cried in pain and fell to the ground. He stared in horror as all three assassins pulled out there knives; they advanced in a triangle formation. It happened all so sudden. Three arrows soared through the air, each one piercing each of the assassin’s neck. Another cloaked figure, emerged from within the wood, but he was alone and there had been three arrows, which was weird. He jogged towards injured Cornelius and knelt down to check on his wound.

“This could be server, you need fast treatment.” He said.

“Who are you?” demanded Cornelius.

“The name’s Marcus, Marcus Rutheo. I am an assassin sent from the emperor himself to kill you. He decided he didn’t want me interfering with his business so he sent three elite assassins after me, who mistakenly thought you were me. Lucky I arrived in time, aint it. Anyway there are things about the emperor, that I know and you don’t. The question is do you flee from me like the others or do you chose to heed my warning and co-operate.”

“What do you know?”…

said Cornelius Falcon ,their Grandfather, with a hint of concern in his voice.

you cant use brackets in the middle of a story, only in descriptions e.t.c

This was a really good chapter, i liked the ending and the cliff hanger. there was much less gramar mistakes than normal, but you really have to use your theres right. but this was a chapter that i really thought was written well, im waiting for the rest
