Eli Foster

Return to The Seven School Mysteries
Creator: Mageheart
Roleplay: The Seven School Mysteries
Nickname: Eli, No. 1
Full Name: Eli Foster / No. 1
Species: They're human, but they're temporarily an apparition during their time at Ravenwood Academy.
Domain: Eli's a student, so they spend the majority of their time in classes. But their domain is the clock tower, which I'll get into the importance of soon.
Special Object: Their special object is a watch that they got from the person who filled their mystery spot before. The watch was originally one with the Ravenwood Academy's seal on it, but Eli's been able to get some...adjustments made.
Gender: Nonbinary, they/them.
Sexuality: Panromantic
Up for Romance?: Sure!
Age: 17 / Junior
Appearance: Eli has two forms: their regular, human form and their apparition form. Most of the time, they use their human form.
Their human form isn't too out of the ordinary. They try to dress neat most of the time, but they're not always successful - Eli is a pretty casual person. They usually end up combining button-up white short sleeve shirts with some kind of graphic t-shirt and pair of jeans. The graphic t-shirts are most likely from Hot Topic, and most likely have some kind of anime reference on them.
Besides clothes, Eli has (dyed) blue hair. It's just barely at their shoulders, but they love wearing it up in a ponytail. The hair color is relatively recent; it was inspired by them seeing an anime where a blue-haired character threw his hair up in a ponytail one episode. They thought it'd look pretty cool on them, so they went ahead and did it!
Their apparition form is slightly different. It's actually heavily inspired by the character they're based off in Hanako-kun: a fancy suit, a bird-like mask, gloves, and their hair in a slightly longer ponytail. There's just one catch. The apparition form was given to Eli before they dyed their hair, so their hair is actually black in their apparition form.
Here's a reference for the outfit!
No matter what form they're in, Eli will always have their pocket watch on them. Remember how I mentioned the difference? Each apparition gets to customize their timepiece; the apparition they replaced had made theirs look like Ravenwood's crest after Ravenwood was founded. Eli, being the anime fan they are, couldn't resist the temptation and made theirs look like the state alchemist watch from Fullmetal Alchemist.
Personality: Eli can come across as a little weird to those that don't share their interests, but they're overall a pretty nice person to hang out with. They're usually quiet in the classroom - save for when a teacher calls on them to answer a question or present. Most students, in fact, just barely acknowledge their existence. It's the faculty that notice them the most, and that's mostly because they love helping out the faculty however they can.
As No. 1, they tend to be less reserved. They're known to joke around, geek out about whatever anime they're watching - even if there's a very slim chance the other apparitions have any idea what they're talking about - and overall are a really friendly person. I think the best way to describe them is like a golden retriever puppy; they're incredibly loyal and absolutely adorable at times.
Brief History: Eli's life changed forever at Ravenwood Academy. They came to get an education there, completely unaware of the supernatural side of things. It was after their first winter break; they had been dared to climb the old, rickety stairs in the practically ancient clock tower by some classmates they didn't really know.
But the stairs broke when they were almost at the top.
The next few moments passed by in a blur. Or, at least, it should have. Someone shouted their name and then everything stopped. Eli found themselves looking at a man in a bird-like mask. The man told them everything about the mysteries: how there were seven mysteries technically, how the first mystery - which he was - involved three apparitions instead of the usual one, and how those three apparitions involved the manipulation of time. He said that he could save Eli's life, but only if they took his place.
Eli agreed.
Eli became the third member of the mystery known as the Clock Keepers. They're the youngest of the group - the other two, in fact, are actual apparitions. Those two control the past and the future; Eli controls the present. They're not an actual apparition, so their abilities are limited - they can only freeze time three times a day.
Eli now balances their life between their duty as a mystery and their duty as a student. It's often hectic, but miraculously no one's realized that the youngest member of No. 1 is actually Eli Foster. It's not that Eli wants to keep a secret from the other mysteries - who they interact more with than the other two Clock Keepers do - but they just feel like they need a break from all the chaos sometimes.
Talents: Eli's a great chef and student. The student part is slightly more obvious than the chef part, seeing that they usually have to take a break from mystery-related business so they can do their homework. But Eli really enjoys cooking, and has been trying to learn more about it.
They also have a great singing voice, but need a lot of encouragement to actually go out and sing.
Other: As mentioned throughout this, Eli's a diehard anime fan. They also haven't had many friends before - and none since they came to Ravenwood Academy - so they see their fellow mysteries as the closest things they have to friends right now.
