istgggg if all of the gifts i gave yesterday when it was supposed to start don't count....

i've been looking at the host of our school newspaper website, because they collect articles from several newspapers internationally--so it's nice to see people's articles from around the world. also great inspiration!
i found this british school, who published an article covering an instagram account that exposes people's experiences with discrimination in the school. and it was so empowering?? it was so well written, and i just found myself shocked. seeing the confessions on the account and how it'd become a vessel for change.
we're actually not allowed to post articles like that on our website--controversial stuff is kinda forbidden. (not by my teacher, but admin would probably get involved if they didn't like it) and obviously freedom of the press doesn't completely extend to school newspapers and that's fine, we need boundaries as a school-sponsored paper...but come on, i joined journalism to make a change, not to just be stuck writing about talent shows and football games. i want to cover stuff that MATTERS to the general population. give me my exposé!!
welp, that's just my journalism rant. to be real with you, though, although you probably see me complaining about journalism class, i do love it. writing for the paper is so fun for me, digging deep. i just wish i could cover more important topics.
i AM leveling up this round, bc i'm criticizing the new growth assessments the school is making us take, and comparing them to other growth assessments. but it's really not the same as exposing corruption, what can i say...

this girl in my journalism class just asked if i "be having a man this valentine's" and i distractedly mumbled "i have a woman" and she was like "wait what" and i was like "i'm gay" and she was like "what?? i can't hear you" and i said "i have a girlfriend, i'm gay" quite loudly and she was like "awwww, meenalllll" and awkward-side-hugged me???

instinctively practiced pirouettes on the way back from the kitchen forgetting that my hair is braided, and then got slapped in the face with hair and forgot how to spot and then fell on the floor and died laughing
