Kaelyn Tan is a Singaporean writer who has been writing stories since the age of 12. They are a Secondary Two student in Raffles Girls’ School who specializes in speculative fiction with futuristic elements. This stems from a strong interest in movies and books with dystopian and futuristic themes like Star Wars, Marvel, Pacific Rim and many others. From young, they have been writing speculative fiction inspired from movies, especially Star Wars. However, in 2023, they started their first original story, “Into the Dark”, which set them on their path of dystopian fiction. At the moment, they are working on a dystopian novel named “Sharpshooter”, bringing to light issues of climate change and survival of the fittest. Currently, they have 9 such published works on Wattpad. In June 2024, they were selected to attend the Creative Arts Seminar, a programme designed to nurture talented young writers, where they received valuable advice on how to bring short stories to life.
