Ky let out a mirthless scoff. “I can’t focus on that now.” She didn’t have a better suggestion, though.

Ky nodded. She felt sick. This wasn’t good.

“Oh gods.” Ky buried her face in her hands and scrubbed it. Was she a beacon for all supernatural creatures now? Gods. She didn’t like that at all.

“…what?” Ky started after her hesitantly. “What’s it mean if the rumors are right about her?” She looked up the row of businesses, panicked. “Is Tomhas safe?”

“…how do you know her?” Ky glanced at her but quickly looked away when she accidentally made eye contact.

Ky glanced at her, then away again. She didn’t know. She felt so unsettled. And yet also oddly numb. Like she wasn’t sure what she was supposed to be feeling. ...

Ky watched them go, then glanced at Sera, then buried her hands in her pockets and glanced away. Her face and neck felt warm and flushed.

“You too.” She dipped her head, voice still small and timid. Hopefully Tomhas would be okay with her on his own.

“…oh…” she should stop thinking so badly of the lady… maybe. They’d see what came of her talk with Tomhas. “… thank you?”

Ky looked at her fearfully. “…y-ou w…ill?” A hex? Punishment? Banishment?

Ky took a shaky breath and nodded, pulling away. “Okay.”

Ky gave a helpless half-hearted returned hug with a nod. Before she let go she whispered. “You’re really gonna…?”

Ky blinked at him. Somehow that felt worse. “…okay.”
