On her 21st birthday, Charlie John receives two gifts from her mother: a ring made of a mysterious stone and the power to hear the thoughts of the people around her. This power has been passed down through generations of the women in Charlie's family, always quietly and usually without incident, but when Charlie begins getting visions filled with shadows and sinister plots, she sets out to uncover the identity of the enigmatic thinker before it's too late.
