When I was little, fairy tales were my absolute favorite thing to read. I seriously read every single one I could get my hands on. I haven't read them for quite a while, but lately I've been thinking about them a lot and decided I wanted to write a few of my own.
Obviously, I'm not going to write ones like the ones I've read before. I don't like to copy things that way. So I've decided that I'm going to create a story consisting of fairy-taleish characters and magic and the like but that's not exactly like a traditional fairy tale. It's going to consist of five chapters in which I tell the story of my character/characters, so it's going to be more than a single fairy tale and less than a novel. Also, the type of fairy tale that I'm writing isn't going to be targeted at young children; it's actually going to be written for teenagers.
I've already started work on my fairy tale, and I didn't know if anybody else wanted to write something like it. I think it'd be cool to compare fairy tales with other people and see what we come up with.
I guess the reason that I'm so excited about this idea is that it's the kind of thing I like the most. Although I've written a large variety of pieces, I still love the magical ones the most. It's how my mind works. I'm the type of kid who always finds herself drifting off during school because she's thinking of what it'd be like to be able to fly and things like that. It's just me! I'm wierd and I'm not afraid to say so.
I think I'm rambling on a bit too much, so I'll bring this to a close. If anybody wants to work on a fairy-book (I'm calling it that because it's not a single tale and it's not an entire novel), I'd love it if you'd leave a comment so we can keep each other updated on our progress. I'm also doing some artwork inspired by my fairy-book; if there are any other artists out there who want to do some inspired by their fairy-book, I'd love to see it!

But it's about a princess and a knight and secret identities and true love. Oh, and it's set in modern times, and it's geared toward tween-teen girls. I'd rather not post it right out on the interwebs because of pirates and stuff. I hope I can publish it, you see. Anyways, um, yeah... just caught my attention and I thought i'd stop by and say hi!
(and I'm in college- but seriously, who wouldn't rather be flying?!) I've always read fairy tales too, enough at least so that when I read "The Goose Girl" by Shannon Hale, I was like "Oh yeah! I remember that happening..." (ps have you read that one? Very good!)
