Really basic math (mid school level) help needed.

So.
I have zero idea on how to do this. We've never had quartiles in school and after wiki-ing it, I'm still blank.
So, I'd like a nitty-gritty how-to, please.

Oh wow. Quartiles. Haven't used those in ages.

We know we have seven integers, and if they were arranged in ascending order, 34 would be in the exact middle.

We also know that Q3 - Q1 = 10 (the interquartile range), and so the mean of the upper quartile has to be 35 (Q1 = 25; 10 + 25 = Q3).

Depending on how you were told to calculate the quartile values, you'll use either:

(34 + d + e + f)/4 = 35

d + e + f = 106

or:

(d + e + f)/3 = 35

d + e + f = 105

to figure out which sets are possible.

I did a quick check, and it seems like the second method is the one you're expected to use as none of the answers work with the first method.

Out of curiosity, what class is this for? The only times I've ever encountered quartiles were in population genetics and ecology.
