Spoiler
So this is the first actual poem like this I have wrote. It is about bullying, discrimination and prejudice - partly because of the times when I have been bullied for how I choose to look and what I like, and also because I believe this is an issue which should be addressed. Please tell me what you think of this.
I am a freak
A loser; a weirdo
I deserve to be bullied, humiliated, insulted
I'm not worthy of being in the same room as you
That's the way you feel about me
Just because I'm different to you
Because I don't like the same things that you do
And because I don't do any of the things you do
I can tell by the look in your eyes; you despise me
You can't fake that look of hatred, everytime you see me
And the rude way in which you treat me
Insulting me all the time, everyday
Acting like I don't belong here and shouldn't even be here
Treating me as if I am worthless
But the funny thing is
You barely even know me
And you think you know everything about me
You've made your judgement just by looking at me
I am a freak
I'm ugly; a mess
I shouldn't be allowed out in public looking like this
Someone should force me to get changed
That's what you think when you look at me
Just because I don't wear the same clothes as you
Because I'm dressed differently to everyone else here
And because nobody looks like me in any fashion magazine
All day you ridicule me about what I'm wearing
You keep constantly shooting your comments at me
Going on and on about how stupid I look
And how I'm a freak for dressing the way I do
You stare at me as if I'm an alien
Constantly glancing at me; looking shocked and disgusted
But the funny thing is
You're dressed exactly the same as everyone else here
At least I have originality, unlike any of you
You wouldn't even dare to dress remotely like me
I am a freak
I'm messed in the head, a psycho
I deserve to be locked up
Dragged to the nearest mental institution and left there
All because sometimes I can't take it anymore and I snap
Because something I've got to fight back and defend myself
And because I get tired of always being a victim
I can hear you all loudly gossiping about me
Talking about me as if I'm not even there
Spreading the word about who I fought;
Who I slapped; who I threw something at
Over reacting and making things up
Then the rest of you come to torment me
And make it known you don't want to be near me
Acting as if you fear me
But the funny thing is
You all claim to know exactly what happened
When most of you weren't even though
You would have done what I did in my situation
But for some reason it's always different for me
And no one talks about what the other person
It's always me who is in the wrong
Even when I was just defending myself
You sit there making judgements
Insulting me every chance you get
You think it's okay to bully me
Make rude comments, pick on me
You seem unaware that I have feelings too
That I get hurt and feel pain
To you I am just another worthless loser
To you I don't deserve happiness
But the funny thing is
No matter what you say to me
No matter how much you knock my self esteem
No matter what any of you believe
I know I am more than just a freak
