The time has stopped, she came to visit
And silently was standing by the door
She did not move, nor spoke, nor made a sign
But still I reached to grab her cold and lifeless hand
No longer do I know or can recall the reason
It is my heart but not my mind that reflects my soul
I guess her company was all I needed,
Deserted and betrayed by all
I did not seek forgiveness, nor acceptance
It had no reason to remember names of those I loved
She was my bride; her kiss was all I needed
To close my eyes and to forget this sinful world
I looked her in the eyes and then she smiled
But turned her pale face away from mine
My vows and pleads of love have vanished
With only woman I have thought I ever loved
Reflecting back I think I understand now
The shadow that lurked deep within her smile
Next time when she will come to visit
She’ll stretch her hand and I’ll return that smile back
