They came to me that day,
Bowed heads and teary eyes.
But I saw the onions in their sleeves;
I didn't believe their lies.
And even though my eyes were closed,
I saw them smirk over my head.
And knew they came for a single reason;
To make sure I was really dead.
I felt so strange, so weird.- The use of the word 'weird' here annoys me; I don't think it suits the tone of the poem as it feels a little too slangy.
