A long deep breath slowly exhaled into the night. My rapidly beating heart slowing, yet the drumming persists, this irregularity alerting me of her oncoming presence. The cold night air is filled with her sweet smell, wafting over my senses like a drug. This can’t be real. The thought slowly forming in my mind. This feeling cannot be coming over me. She is like a drug to me. She finally arrives behind me, her warm touch rushing over my neck. “Hello sweetheart, why have you run away from me again?” She purrs into my ear, sending off sparks in my body. “Why end what you so eagerly want?” She brushes her hand softly against mine, tempting me to hold it and not let go.
The moon’s beam shined down on us, illuminating the area around me. I know this place. The thoughts and memories slowly entering my mind. That tree and the carving that I spent hours making. Her soft kisses move slowly down my neck, causing panic in my skin where they touch. “I am your deepest desire, the fire that your soul and body yearn for.” She whispers softly on my neck, her breath sending a heat wave through my body. “Don’t worry about tomorrow, just worry about here with me tonight.” The area around me slowly turns into a haze, as the moon’s light seems to shine only on her. I turned around slowly, admiring the shadows that played across her face, the sudden closeness through waves of heat through my senses.
“This fire in my body won’t stop burning….” I gasped, her gaze never breaking from mine. “Being around you makes it burn brighter, not releasing me from this pain.” Her laugh sends tingles down my spine, the night seeming to echo it.
“You mistake this fire to be wrong, that it is unnatural to you. However this fire is meant to be, it fills your desire for me.” The shadows on her face seem to disappear, showing her face. Her eyes sparkle in the moon light with their emerald green, almost seeming to peer into my inner being. Her soft lips, tender to the touch and posed in a seductive smile. Her long hair flowing over her shoulders, the bangs placed carefully to the side. The moonlight casts a silver tint to her already light blonde hair. Her face is a chiseled perfection of my wildest dreams.
I leaned my head down slowly, the distance quickly closed at the realization of my intention. The first touch from her lips sends the fire inside me into a torrent of flames, seeming to be almost tangible in the cold night. I pulled away from her quickly, the fire slowly dying with the distance. She frowns, piercing the beauty of her face, and places her steps cautiously towards me. “You know this is true, that I am the one for you. However, I see that you are not ready for my gift. You insist that the fire is not what you are.” She brushes her lips softly across my cheek, sending wildfires into my face. The moonlight becomes blinding as she slips into its comforting embrace, the light slowly taking over my conscious.
The white light turned into the dull orange of the light above my bed, the sheets stick to my body with sweat, my breath still coming out in gasps. I slowly became aware of the constant beeping, my alarm clock alerting me of approaching daylight. Shaking off the deeper effects of the dream girl’s drug I leaned out of bed. My queen size bed lies under the main window of the room, a modern looking black desk sitting next to it. The double set of doors across from my bed lie open, showing the contents of my wardrobe, the so-called “preppy” clothe spilling out. On the floor next to the single door leading out of my room lies my backpack, where inside of it lies the laptop filled with the poems describing the beauty I had just seen.
I shook off the drowsiness and lingering covers sticking to my body and slowly got out of bed, the wooden floors beneath me creaking, alerting my mother of my waking. I stumbled out in the hall, the bulb from above casting a blinding light into my eyes, until I finally stumble into my bathroom, tripping over the tile jutting out of the floor. The warm droplets of the shower slowly wash off the dream girl’s drug along with my plain smelly shampoo. Stepping out of the shower I realize the significance of the day, today is the anniversary of Jen and I. The steam-covered mirror suddenly becomes an image of Jen, the mere sight of it bringing my heart to a thundering beat. Her long brown hair had always run down over her shoulders, the ends curling into elegant curls. Her emerald green eyes, even from the mirror, seemed to be staring into my soul, her lips curved in a smile at what she sees. I wipe the steam from the mirror, sighing as the image fades, and slowly head back to my room.
The clothes that were laid out the night before now lie on the floor in a pile, the kicking from last night’s episode as the explanation. I rushed into my closet searching for the first pair of clean clothes I had. Pair of black boxers is the first that I pulled on, seeming to be new but then reveled by a small tear in the tag. After pulling on my favorite pair of jeans I put on my favorite black shirt, a gift from Jen, the sleeves form fitting to my biceps and chest. I took a look into the mirror hanging by my closest, and slowly inspected the figure seen. My brown hair had never liked to cooperate it, so I cut it into a short style, throwing a little gel in the front to give it some body. My shirt clung to my body, showing off the muscles I had so long worked for. I had always been a short and chubby kid, later deciding that I would turn my body into a fit machine, a defining term for me in school. After messing up my hair, I grabbed my bag and rushed out the front door, not waiting for my mother to emerge.
Taking the bus was normal to me, as I took it everyday from the start of my school career, however today there seemed to be a tension on the bus as I slowly climbed up the steps. Every eye on the bus seemed to inspect my outfit and appearance down to the smallest hair Yes take a close look at me, make sure I am clean enough to deserve your queen. I thought as I walked towards the back of the bus. The sight of Jen turned my heart into its previous drum, of which I was sure the bus could hear. The twinkle in her set off a spark in my heart, the burning flame being snuffed out as I sat down next to her, being greeted softly with a tender kiss. “Hey hun.” She breathed as she pushed a stray hair out of her face. “Can’t believe that it has been a year since you became mine.” She laughed softly intertwining her fingers with mine.
“And only ever yours babe.” I sighed as I kissed her hand, admiring the look of our entwined fingers. “It has been a wonderful year at that.”
“You know I think the same.” She laughs sending a warmth through my heart, comforting the pains it was once feeling. “Soon we will be old and missing these days, you shouldn’t dismiss them so soon.” She put on her angry face, the thought of her growing age dampening the mood.
I laughed and kissed the wrinkles formed on her head from her gaze. “Come on now, I would like to enjoy your young beauty as long as I can.” I gave her a wink, calming the retort that was bound for me.
