Help needed! I need a topic for a persuasive speech.

Hey all,
I have entered a public speaking competition, and one of the categories is a persuasive speech. It can be a topic of my choice, but it has to be serious (not a joke topic like Mcdonalds vs. KFC), although wit and humour are allowed in the speech. Now, I don't want a speech, just an idea for what to talk about. Please give me some suggestions.

Ooh, this sounds awesome. Um, I guess I can reel out some topics that come to mind.

1) Education. Sounds boring, I know, but it can be really interesting, especially if there's something in the education system that really bugs you. I don't know, just sort of something I'm interested in, so feel free to ignore it!
2) The environment. Easy to research, you can be passionate about it, show cute pictures of polar bear cubs.
3) Changing modern attitudes. Not sure where I'm going with this one, but it could be a persuasive speech to fellow teenagers about the way we've become a generation of ignorance and consumption - how and why should we change that?
4) Following that - persuasive speech about why reading/writing are better than tv/facebook?

These topics aren't particularly brilliant, but if you like one then go for it. However, I would recommend that you find something you can take a slightly sideways view on something and really engage your audience with something fresh.
