The Creation of the Universe
Long ago before the Planes were shattered, there was Éleïl, and Nothing; for there must always be Nothing. Into Nothing, Éleïl brought the Great Plane, but it was null and void. So Éleïl shed his fingernails, crushed them and scattered them across the void. As the particles flew, they grew and became hot and bright, and so the stars were born. The stars shot across the Plane at great speed trailing their tails behind them. Although this amused Éleïl, He knew that stars alone would not fill the World, so He cut of the Stars’ tails and set them to rest in the heavens.
Now Éleïl took the tails and created the first magics from them: Celeste, Arcana and Chaos, ethereal beings of great power. From these magics the elements were born: Fire, Water, Earth, Air, Darkness and Light. By this time, some of the stars had cooled and became planets.
Éleïl then said to the magics and elements: “Go and fertilise these lands with creatures of your own invention, but leave me one planet that I may make beings in my own image.” The spirits did as their master commanded and created a great host of beings; all blessed with their unique powers. Three of them were blessed above all others, for they were the ones made in Éleïl’s image: The Humans were given an unbreakable sprit and passion to rival all the other races. The Ael were give power over Arcana and knowledge of all things. And finally, the Dragons were given power over all the elements, but they were also made endless wanderers to keep the balance. To all solid creations, Éleïl gave a soul crafted from his very essence: love.
At the top of the Plane, Éleïl built his palace where he set seats for all his ethereal creations. There he sat beaming and watching his world flourish and fill the void that had once been the Great Plane.
But it was not to last, for Nothing jealous of his Brother sought to undo what He had made. Out of Nothing’s anger Evil was born and their union spawned a host of beings that would cause the downfall of the Plane. The Children-of-Nothing they were called: Anger, Fear, Hatred, Jealousy, Lust, Pride and Discord.
The first Child-of-Nothing to enter Éleïl’s world was Pride. It corrupted Belor the king of Dragons and he gathered his closest followers and marched on Éleïl’s castle. But one Child is no match for the creator and Belor was defeated. As evil as the dragon king had become, Éleïl could not bring himself to destroy His closest creation, and so Belor was banished to the end of the Plane. There he opened a rift in space and let his brothers in.
The Children ravaged the Plane like a plague, wandering far and wide, corrupting everything they found. Humans in particular were found to be susceptible, because they were closest to Éleïl, and those that fell became the most terrifying of the corruptions.
Now with a host of corporeal beings at their command, Evil and Nothing marched into the Plane. There they were met by all of the uncorrupted beings and the great battle that was fought Echoed through the ages. For a time it seemed Éleïl’s forces were on the brink of victory, but Discord, who had not come into the world until then, divided them and made them fight among themselves.
And so it was, that, with a heavy heart, Éleïl smashed His mighty fist into the very heart of the Plane shattering it for all eternity. But the seeds of Evil were already sown, and the creatures began to crumble and fall into Nothing.
So Éleïl fashioned his very last, and most powerful, creations. The first was Death, who was commissioned to sever the spirit of beings from the corruption that Evil had wrought. Humans were his top priority as they had been most affected by the entry of the Children, so they were the only race to die from another means than the sword or disease. After Death was sent into the world, Éleïl created Time, to count the days before He, Éleïl, would unite the Planes, and be one with his people again.
