Tell him name of vehicle and number, he’d instantly pull out other details from his database and he was really good at it. He used feel good just by watching there cute faces. Every time he thought to bump and talk chicks available, he was unsuccessful. He was always dominated by his internal fear, may be that was the reason for his poor performance with girls. But, after pick up lesson from Ina, he was on cloud no 9.
With a thought to add some nicotine to his blood, lighting the indicator of his bike, he turned towards the left of the busy road and therefore stopped at the cigarette shop. Shopkeepers stared at him from under shaded awnings and doors left open to welcome the summer air. ‘ King size gold flake.” He asked for fag, his regular brand to the person on the opposite side of counter. He dragged ciggratte whenever, he felt happy or sad, was alone or in gang, high or low, tensed or thoughtful. In short, everyday he had his own excuse for fag.
Taking out a white stick from the large twenty cigarette pack shopkeeper handed him one. “Hello Sir Ji, got any girlfriends or still single?” Shopkeeper rolled the conversation. Almost every person who talked with Rahul knew, he didn’t have girlfriend and that was his biggest worries in life. He used to share his being single feelings with shopkeeper ideally dragging puffs of hours.
“Don’t worry, soon I’ll have one...” he hanged the unlighted cigarette between his lips.
Shopkeeper chuckled listening to his reply. He had been replying the same answer from a long time, but still he had no girlfriend. ”Sir ji, seems like you have got Aladdin’s Geene. “ He mocked as he lightened his cigarette with cheap propane lighter.
A pang of guilt ran through his vein when shopkeeper flied fun of him in front of other customers for being single. “Laugh, laugh. One day my girlfriend will be sitting on backseat of Nody and remember, that day, I wont stop for cigarette here.” His eyes were fixed on road, scanning for teen girls.
“Insha-Allah! But, why are you getting angry?” said shopkeeper in a typical villager accent. “Sir ji, you know, why are you still single?”
A cigarette was dangling from the corner of the man's mouth, and a cloud of smoke encircled his head. Rahul took a deep whiff of the smoke and sighed with pleasure. “No” Rahul exclaimed. His voice sounded raw from the cigarettes.
“He’s busy writing best love story for you. I’m damn sure about it.” replied shopkeeper.
A smile spread across his face, may be that was the genuine reason. Most of time, a person forgets the things gifted by god and complaints more about the other things.
Shopkeeper watched him take another long draw on the cigarette and hold the smoke inside before letting it out through his mouth.
Suddenly, his attention was caught by the beauty passing nearby on her white Honda-Activa. Desperate urge to talk her came from within. He recalled the golden words by Ina--When you really want to talk a girl then, one or the other day you have to approach her. Why not the very same moment when you see her? Still the promise given to Ina was to be finished. He promised Ina, that he would approach five girls, none of them from friend circle. She is Prey number one he made his mind.
Focusing his attention on the road, he took the dragged the last puff and buried the filter in earth by crushing it with a force, fighting the tiny spark of fear at the back of her mind. Utilizing self-start function of his latest bike, he chased her with a determined thought to talk her.
School bag and civil dress, at once gave him clue that, she was either going to tuitions or was on the way back home. He continued tailgating her, recognizing someone was following her Activa picked up speed. Apart from bloody cool looks, speed was another best feature of Karizma; in flashes his bike was parallel to Activa. Turning his head in direction of girl, he smiled at her, giving hint he was interested. Throwing a short glance at Rahul face, girl increased the speed of her scooter with cold deadly expression.
Rahul wasn’t able to judge unfriendly expression which she threw upon him, a hint that she wasn’t at all interested him. He continued speeding his bike too, again getting parallel to her bike then he uttered “Excuse me? Can you stop for a moment? Need to talk with you?”
“Who are you?” asked girl, she didn’t stop Activa, and instead she continued riding further.
“Wait for a minute. I’ll tell you everything” requested Rahul.
Listening to Rahul, slowly she diverted her bike towards the side of road and stopped. She was in hurry therefore she asked “What happened?”
Rahul stopped beside her, resting machine on side stand, he stood up from the bike, “Hey, I’m Rahul” he introduced himself in overconfident manner as he moved forward his hands for a shake.
“What happened? Why you stopped me?” girl asked icily staring at him with anger filled eyes.
“Actually…” stammered Rahul, as girl refused to shake hand and gave him a warning look. Rahul was first time applying the theoretical knowledge provided by Ina. It might seem easy for anyone to approach girl and befriend her. But, when it came to real life, it required a nerve, practice, control of mind and experience. He lacked everything in the first attempt.
“What the hell are you trying to do?” girl asked again, getting frustrated by his nonsense.
“Can be friends?” Rahul suddenly spat out, with zero confidence level. “I mean, I want to be your friend. Hope you don’t mind” his tone was politest, as if he was begging for her friendship. Nor did he have the slightest idea what to say next nothing had gone the way he’d rehearsed it. If there would have been some people nearby then, surely they might have thought that, Rahul would commit suicide if her answer was No.
“How dare you? If ever again you try to talk with me then I’ll call one zero zero understand?” she scoffed.
“Why are you getting angry?” begged Rahul, with a hope to convince her. His words generated a wave of foul fragrance of tobacco from his mouth
She sensed it’s source and twisted mouth is disgust. “Shut up! And Go to hell! ” She abused him as she started her Activa.
“Hello…?” shouted Rahul, in order to ask her name. Passersby threw her annoyed looks as he stood still in the middle of the sidewalk, blocking the flow of foot traffic.
“Simply fuck off from here and don’t dare to follow Me.” she shouted, raising her middle finger in air.
She leaved him burning his heart away. Compared to Girls cigarette are much better, in spite burning heart, it came closer to lips. All he needed after such kind of rejection was a cigarette, his only partner in every kind of situation. Staying on the wrong side of road, slowly he wheeled back towards the cigarette shop.
“Sir Ji, what happened? Why looking so embarrassed?” asked Shopkeeper politely, watching a deep frown on his face.
He lifted a cigarette and said politely. “May be you were right, I would never get girlfriend. God forgot to write love story for me.”
“No, Sir Ji. God never forgets his children” replied shopkeeper. He gave Rahul another king size gold flake, he knew that he desperately wanted one. Rahul placed the narrow white cylinder between firm lips, pushed the lighter in on the dash, and when it popped out, held it to the tip of the cigarette. Taking a long pull, he replaced the lighter and took the cigarette from his mouth. “Then, why every girl slips away from me? I have everything a girl’s wants.” he counter questioned.
That was signal Sir Ji.” said shopkeeper, he watched the smoke drift through his nostrils and form a white cloud around his head. He continued “When God takes away one thing from hand. That doesn’t mean he want to take it. That means he wants to give my better thing. I think that was the reason” he sounded more like a saint then shopkeeper.
Shopkeeper always came up with some positive reason for every situation, which Rahul wasn’t able to deny. He might be uneducated person, but his thought was cent percent right. If one learns to find humor and positivism in worst situation of life then, he would never get depressed. Life would be a cake walk.
Usually, we humans yell and curse God, when we loose one thing from life. But, we forgot the universally applied Cosmos truth that, everything happens for reason. That depends upon you to find out the, Why it happened? And therefore bring change to life according to it.
Rahul had no interest in positive thoughts and excuses. He started racing horses in his mind to find out answer. Was there any better girl waiting for him? He didn’t know that success was never achieved at first attempt, constant determination and practice is required. His Guru Ina knew that thing. Maybe, that’s why she told him to approach five girls and report her within a month. Hopefully, in search of every kind of failure, by mistake he would find success. Tips which Ina gave him failed.
The confidence which she built within him was easing away gradually. I can approach any girl in world .I’d never have a girlfriend. Negative thoughts again bubbled in his mind. But, he knew any how the promise given to Ina was to be completed. He felt pressure for the first time.
