Chapt 3: Unforgettable.

“Lesh, you can't just shrivel up into a ball forever and refuse to leave your room,”
“Why? Who said? As far as i'm concerned there is no rule against it,” I pouted.
Lucy sauntered over and sat on the edge of my bed. She looked out of the window at the heavy fallen snow. Tree's were the only live inhabitants in the garden. The clouds sneezed white powder, drowning the patio completely. She shook her head and pulled a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and turned to face me.
“Alicia..”
“Oh no you don't,” I stopped, shoving my hand in her face, “I don't need a lecture. Yeah yeah yeah, we all know you went through this before. I don't care,” I groaned sternly.
“I'm not going to lecture you alright,” she snapped. “ You think the world will just stop because your precious Luke has gone. Well that's not how it works. We all have to get on with things. We can't all kneel and do as you command. It's not as if Luke is dead. So what? He's left. Go find him. He certainly won't come home to you, selfish little Alicia waiting for her prince to come fetch her in a carraige,” She raged, storming out of the open door slamming it loudly behind her.
Huh. So that's what she thought. I was so not like that. Was I? And it wasn't as if I knew where he was anyway.
I slumped back onto the bed and wrenched the covers over my head. But it wasn't like I could come up with anymore excuses not when someone had spelled it out plainly infront of me. The phone rang causing me to jump wildly and tumble onto the cold floor.
Ugh.
“Lesh hi. I'm sorry I haven't called I mean life has just been so busy and I don't mean to be a bad friend and not call you and talk to you about Luke and I didn't..” I smiled as she rapidly mouthed off about how sorry she was.
“Stop, stop stop. Your not a bad friend. Your the best Mia,” I interrupted her.
I suddenly burst into a fit of laughter as I heard a genuine dramatic sigh of relief. I couldn't stop for ages as she must have been so worried of what I thought of her. She seemed a little frightened when I finally ceased laughing.
“ OK. Ill let you rest then. Should I come over soon or.. maybe I..” Her voice quivered unevenly.
Swallowing another fit of giggles I replied,
“No no, come on over as soon as you can you've made me feel better then I have in ages,”
I could almost see her smiling.
“Cool, tommorrow then after school. You will be in school. Promise me,”
So I promised her and clicked off the phone.

School was strangely normal, not that I was looking for a card and a big sympathy parade or anything I just... I guess I thought I would notice that he wasn't there more often. Of course it was obvious and I was aware he wasn't there the whole time but I found my day was too packed to even feel like crying. I wanted it that way. I didn't want time to cry.
I chatted to Mia all day and if I was honest I couldnt't have felt as good as I did without her. Her energy was like a spark to the wood-it set off the fire. I told her I intended on going over to her house after school and asking where Luke had gone as she didn't know. She shifted uncomfortably at any mention of his name which confused me. Maybe she was too close for comfort. So I asked her.
“Mia do you want me to stop talking about him? If you don't want me to then I.. just won't,”
She turned away and started off toward the bus, ignoring the question. I grabbed her arm.
“Mia?”
Head down she kept walking. I ran on a head and faced her.
Her eyes fluttered and eventually met mine.
“I didn't mean for it to happen,”
“For what to happen?”
“ I.. was the reason he...he left,” She whispered, eyes widdening in resentment.
I didn't answer her for awhile. I just sort of nodded with my eyes for her to go on.
“ It was the night after his party and I so wanted him to know. You and him were so happy and I was happy too because one day I knew you would marry and then we woud be sisters. Then I thought he would grow up never knowing who he really was. That terrified me so I planned to tell him. I knew in my heart it wasn't right but I couldn't let him..just go on without knowing,” Her tanned face was now covered in tears streaming down her face. I was frozen to the spot as she continued through her tears.
“ I didn't want to hurt him because I loved him as if he really was my own true brother but I knew he had the right to know he was.. he was,” She swallowed then almost choked on the last word.
"Adopted."

I'M NOT SURE ABOUT THIS CHAPT. REVEIWS APPRECIATED.
KAKA XX ;) ENJOY.

Yay!! The story is getting more interesting!! I'm pulled towards it like a moth to light... :D

By the way, what is so bad about Luke being adopted?

Nothing at al it was just such a surprise to Alicia as she has grown up with Luke and his so called family, she never guessed he never belonged.
So it was a shock to her and for Mia well it has to be hard for someone to tell their best friend that her brother and your boyfriend was adopted. Its not like it comes up in easy casual conversation.

Glad you like it. Well write more soon.

I have returned for the last review! Dun, dun, duuuuun...

With any luck, I'll be able to give you a bit of a better review than my last one. This review will be about this chapter specifically, but it will also be an overall novel so far kind of thing. Well, so long as I kind find enough stuff to mention it will. If you have any questions or comments about my reviews after this, let me know and I'll be happy to answer thme for you or whatever.

I'll begin by saying that I very much like the twist! I love that Luke's adopted... no offence to the guy or anything. I think it's a good touch to the story. I'm assuming he's gone off to find his real family or something. If that is the case, then I can see this novel progressing into something really cool. If that is what happens, then this novel is an original one. I always give a thumbs up to an original, non cliched novel. So yeah, well done for that!

I do have a few questions about the adoption thing though. How old are Luke and Alicia? I mean, if they're rather young, would Luke really be able to run off to somewhere to do whatever at his age, without his family or any kind of adult? I won't drag this on though because I don't know how old they are. They have to be quite young though because they're in school... High school in America finishes at 18, right? I'm British, so I dont really know. I'm sorry if I'm wrong! Mind you, you could be British, Indian, Cuban or something for all I know. If you are British, then I know school finishes at 18. For some, it finishes at 16. It's the fact that he's going to a different country that I find a little unsure about. If he is quite young, would he really be allowed to travel to some other country on his own?

Another thing I want to mention about the adoption thing is a suggestion really. Basically, I want you to make more out of it. I mean, it's a big announcement, right? I'd love for you to turn it into a big scene too. Maybe you could have Alicia going over to Luke's house to question his parents or whatever about it. Maybe have htme not want to talk about it, resulting in Alicia getting a bit annoyed. Then, you could have Mia getting fed up of all the drama, resulting in her blurting out the truth to Alicia. I'd like for you to be a bit dramatic about the adoption announcement, basically. You dont' have to, but yeah, I think it could be good.

Okay, now as for the first three chapters overall. So far, I like where this looks like it's going. Your grammar is a little off at the moment, but it's not too serious. I'm terrible at giving grammar advice, so I don't think I can help you much. There are lpenty of links, blogs, threads, posts e.t.c on YWS that can give you advice on grammar usage. You can also use Google to help you out. Google knows all. Fact. ;)

The main thing I'd like for you to concentrate on is what I've been saying in my past two reviews. I want to know more about your character's backgrounds. I especially want to know about Alicia's relationship with Luke. I have a feeling that it's a key thing in this novel. I'm guessing that this is going to include Alicia looking for Luke because of her love for him kind of thing. If that's true, then you need to really show us Luke and Alicia's relationship in some mroe detail. Maybe you could even show them in a happy relationship at the beginning of the novel?

I'm not going to go into loads of details about including more details and background because I've done that in my past to reviews really. I just want you to bear it in mind. If you edit the novel with that in mind, then I think that it could round it off really well.

This novel has a lot of potential, kaka. If you revise it a little and edit a few things, I can see it easily filling its full potential.Your grammar overall isn't too bad, but it could do with some editing. The more your practice your writing though, the better your grammar will become. So far, I like where you're going with this. Some of your descriptions are very nice and the flow of your writing overall is good. If you take into consideration what us reviewers say, this could certainly be a really great piece of writing! :D

Keep writing,

xoxo Skins

Hmph... Thank you. I will try and do those little bits of editing. As I said I was in a bit of a pothole so when inspiration came I was like yes! And started jotting down anything! Well I did do a lot of thinking but still! ;)

About their ages, yes I do see where you are coming from skinsy. I alwasy thought of them of 19. You see they do this thing like a year after leaving cert if you aren't sure what road you want to go down with your carreer. So they are in that year and practically adults. Luke has yes, left home and gone to find out about his past. I will be writng chapter three add on. Which will be like an insight to all questions I have been asked. Explaining the adoption thing and their previous realationships. Like a question prologue but actually part of they story as well. It won't be a chapter though. I will work on this question prologue thing as soon as I get time. Ten people in the house at christmas means that will probably be ina good few days so I'm sorry but you might have to wait a little while.

I'm glad everyone likes where this is going, I was kind of happy with the idea. It was original I tought and I went for it so I'm glad it worked out. I was worried. Really.

As I said I will wrok hard to write more soon and it really comforts me to know I am not writing for the sake of it, that people actually are following it and enjoying it.
Have a great xmas everyone

Ah... Okay! :)

Thanks for explaining, kaka. Be sure to mention the thing about the schooling sometime during the beginning of the novel, otherwise it could get a bit confusing for some readers. With a little bit of editing, it will be fine!

Thanks again for explaining!

okay here it goes.... :) it's seriously good, although you should re read it, i was a tiny bit confused on what was going on, any who, you could have started her of walking home from school. ( I walked through the front door and threw my bag down, it landed in front of my sister, almost knocking her of her feet, I ran upstairs past her, I heard her shouting behind me, I just wanted to be alone.) I'm sorry if i seem rude, you need to add a bit of feeling into it, remember try to act like the character. Have you got a plot yet? Just curious. :) :) I didn't see that coming, it was a really nice twist. My friends adopted :/ any who, brilliant so far and make sure you have a place to write for example in your room or the living room. My favourite place is in my sun room, I love it when it rains it's like they are telling me what to right. Sorry i always get lost up in my thoughts :D :D

I don't think you mentioned pasific detail, example, hair colour, eye colour maybe her age, I'm not sure I don't remember that but sure :D Anyway, you should describe her enviorment, you know what does her room look like, it helps the reader to imagin the set. I want to be a director when I grow up, so I'm always thinking what things would look like, sorry :/

Just consentrate it makes it easier, and dont' be ashamed to redo all the chapters, i didn't start of with the chapter I have now. :)

Yay I have some answers! Adopted hmm? Nice twist!
This chapter was a good one as you finally are starting to tie up some loose ends but yet still leave some hanging to make us want to come back for more ;)
The only thing that was a little confusing to me was how the whole adoption subject came out. Just the way you worded it was a little confusing and I had to re-read it about three times until I was able to understand who was the sister, who was adopted one, I don't even know why I was so confused!
But when I did "get" it, it made sense so...haha.

I like where this is going, he could literally be going anywhere! The possibilities are endless, I'd love to see where this ends up :)
Send me a link if you've got the time when you post more, I'll be waiting!
