A Sentence long book

This is where you need to read the book to see if it's ground breaking or just trash. It could be the next Ulysses...god forbid, or just another attempt at art falling miserably short. Otherwise, smells of a gimmick.

Oh, and people demanding punctuation or grammar...ha! You will cry and foam at the mouth for the rest of your life if you think that's necessary for any writing beyond technical writing.

But why bother? Punctuation is there to make the work easier to understand. People didn't just make it up for fun/sadistic pleasure. It's there for a reason. I can't see how getting rid of sentences can be considered artistic. Perhaps clever in how else he splits it up. But otherwise, eh. It would annoy me.

I agree with both MeanMrMustard and Stella Thomas. I think that the thing things that would annoy me the most are:

1. Reading it out-loud though commas do give breaks it would simply be annoying to try to struggle through one long ramble.
2. When do you stop? Where is a good place to put the book down and go change the baby? With regular books you can always stop, the end of the page the end of a paragraph. Some might say this will make you want to stop reading, I would say my head will explode.
3. Same old same old, I love sentences because you can make them in so many different ways. Trying to make one long sentence would, I think, really restrict how I write and say things. Unless you got very good at it most writers would greatly struggle with this.

Also, when do paragraphs come it at all? I think that readers like white space on the page. Too much crowded in makes your eyes tired. I think it would affect how you read the book as well. You probably wouldn't notice the details of the story.
