The surroundings of the kids completely melted away. I fell into Vince world, but I shook my head so I wouldn’t land there again.

“I have a surprise for you.” Vince said.

Another one?” I thought.

“How many surprises do you have for me today?” I joked.

He smiled and my heart just melted. “I don’t know what will come up –but I think that this is the last surprise for today.”
I smiled with him. “Okay, I’m ready for it.”

He held my hand and led the way to the surprise.
We went through the park to the street on our right.
Once we stepped onto the street a scream of people saying “Happy Birthday!” filled our ears. I saw the whole street being taken over by a party. My sixteenth birthday party. Everyone came up to me and hugged me. This was the party I was dreaming of. This was the party I had planned since I was eight years old. Everything was exactly the same as I planned it.

“Oh my God!” I said.

My heart beat was speeding up in shock. My jaw fell to the floor as I took in the surroundings.
They put up a huge tent (length wise). There were balloons hanging from the ceiling of the tent and streamers that are in the shape of music notes. People were sitting on chairs that were white diner chairs. The tables were black and blue checked. There was a rug laid out through the whole tent –it was red. From where I was standing I could see a food court thing and it looked exactly like a restaurant.

“You like it?” Vince asked me.

“Are you kidding? I love it!” We hugged.

“I was hoping that you would,”

We pulled out of the hug.

“You did this?” I asked.
“Yeah,”

We walked up to a table and sat on the soft white chairs. People from my school passed by saying “Happy Birthday Zoey!” or “Happy sixteenth!”

“How did you make it exactly like I planned it? I never showed anyone my plans!”

He looked from right to left as if telling me a secret.

“I asked your sister to take it from your room.” He admitted.

“What? You asked Kailey to take something from my room?”

“Yeah, I’m sorry –it’s just that I wanted your birthday to be the best for you.”

I smiled and fell into Vince world. His smile just is so truthful and sincere.
Vince started to wave his hand in front of my face and I snapped out of dream world.

“Oh, sorry,” I said.

“Let me give you a tour of your party.” He said.

We both got up and we went through the place.
I found out then that everything was really exactly the same as my plans. The party was separated into three parts. At the front was a hang out with a food court. In the middle was a game place with a colorful dance floor and a DJ. There were arcade games too. Finally, at the end was a stage with five rows of plastic black and red chairs.
The game place was covered with more black, white, yellow, blue and red balloons. There was still a red rug running through it. The music that played there was only rock and roll.
At the end was a black metal stage. The end of the tent was open too. The rug ended at the game place and here was just the street.
All the lamps throughout the whole tent were silver chandeliers.

“This is perfect, how did you pull this off?” I asked Vince.

We were standing on the stage.

“Simple, had some contacts with the theater and got some money from our parents.”

“You got cash from my parents?”

“Yeah, they really wanted this day to be special for you,” he explained.

“Uhuh, I thought that I wouldn’t be able to get everything for this party –but you did.”

I was shocked. He did this for me. I know that we’re best friends, but still. It was amazing.
My body started to tingle once he tried to hold my hand again.

“Let’s get off the stage, a show is about to begin.” He said.

I held his hand and we hopped of the stage.
I felt some sweat trickle down my neck. My eyes took in everything with complete astonishment to Vince. I was seriously shocked.
We sat down on the first seats and then the rest of the party sat down too.
Five people came onto the stage. I didn’t know who they were until I looked up at them.

“Welcome everybody!” Klaus Meine said.
Yup, the Scorpions came. My favorite band of all time. And yes –it was in the plans. I was still at a voting stage of who to pick: a.) Scorpions b.) Fall Out Boy c.) The Jonas Brothers and lastly d.) Aerosmith.
My heart skipped a beat. Everything was so fast. My stomach flipped in shock. I felt as if my eyes would pop out! This was amazing. The Scorpions came!

“Oh my God! No way!” I said to Vince.

The whole crowd of people was screaming!

“How?” I asked him.

“That wasn’t simple. I called them and asked –a lot of times trust me. I had to use bait too, they have very busy schedules you know,” he answered me with a smile.

“Thank you! You are amazing!” I hugged him tightly.

We looked back at the stage and the whole band was there just for me. Me, Zoey Piatek.

“Happy birthday Zoey!” The band said.

“Can you stand up for everyone?” Klaus added.

As I was told, I stood up and waved to them and the crowd. I felt like a princess. Everyone started to cheer my name on as I sat down.

“It took a hard time to get us here, but we did it. We’d like to first sing ‘Wind of Change’ for Zoey,” Klaus said.

“Is this on tape?” I whispered to Vince.

“Yup,” he pointed to the back left corner of the space.

There was Cole from our video class that we took together last year.
I waved to him and he waved back.
They stared to sing and we all took out cell phones as if they were lighters.
This is actually my favorite song from them. I used to cry to it. It’s just so beautiful.
I hugged Vince during the singing and we smiled at each other. I felt a burning at the bottom of my stomach as I stared into his blue eyes. We both started to smile and my heart skipped a beat. This felt like a real moment between us.
I started to sing along to the song with the crowd following my routine. This is the best birthday party ever.

Pain is filtered in a poem so that it becomes finally, in the end, pleasure.
