Flashing mirrors
Sewn so carefully into the shifting fabric (of time)
Reflected an unearthly world
Of dancing women
With beautiful ebony and ivory skin
Swaying to songs of another thought
Another mind.
Their lips barely parted
Just enough to let the sound pour out
Sirens’ songs
Seducing the light
And calling the night
Dwelling in the hearts of everyone
But too weak to escape by themselves.
Their hands joined,
They begin another beat
To wild drums and crazed guitars
A rapturous song of life
Echoing into the ears of nonexistent listeners
Who have missed the reason for living
Missed the song of spirits.
