Sticky fingers and licorice laces,
Gooey smiles: sheepish and shy.
Purple tongues point out of sugar lips,
Eyes squeeze in mockery, playful and shallow.
Promises are kept,
Lies are unheard of,
Songs are sung with comic precision.
Grubby hands reach for smooth, clean stars,
Blissfully unaware of what really lies ahead.
For instead of sparkly, shimmery stars,
Grubby hands tug at the painful pangs of adolescence.
You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it.

Wow, I really like this poem. I think that you really illistrate how children think and feel and how they are a true example of innocence. My favorite line is "purple tounges stick out of sugar lips" because its makes me remember all those times when I would sit on my porch licking a popsicle with sticky-goo dripping down my face.
Your poem doesnt rhyme but it has great flow and I love it.
Just awsome,

I really liked this.
This poem doesnt lie, it points out the sad truth to the reader and I
like that. It made me think of how it went from apple juice to beer,
simple math became agelebra...

So basiclly, keep writing! (:

This was really awesome! I absolutely loved how you showed children as they really are, with every ounce of true innocence they have. It was truly great. It brought back a lot of memories of being a child. Ha, I really do miss that.
Anyways, if I already haven't said it, I love this! Keep it up! :D
