Hi everyone. I thought i'd try some poetry, or more i didn't think and somehow got inspired to write poetry. Anyway i don't really know which catergory it fits into to or even if it does fit into one or not so if someone knows please let me know:)

The wind ruffled my clothes
Rather like a summer breeze
that ruffles the curtains of an opened window
in an open house
that has lost the battle of coolness against summer
It is only the beginning

I feel as if I'm at the start of a long book,
unsure as to whether i'm about to read a masterpiece of literature
or something much less, something monotonous

I hear a whisper made to warn
I flick my head listleslly towards the general direction of someone
I know will be wearing the same powder blue buttoned shirt
he wore on the day i tripped over whilst hitting a pinata

I imagine he gloats
His face tells a hundred stories of schoolyard bullying,
picking on the smallest child for money
and becoming the most dominant male of the pack.

I skip through the pages
As fast as the wind allows me to,
I see only a flicker of each page,
like the flicker of light a child sees whilst playing with the light switch;
it is not useful but slightly, ever so slightly entertaining

Another gust of wind
Bruhes past the earth, kisses it
Rather like a man who kisses hiss wife
on the landing of the stairs
as he's halfway out the door,
about to go out on a Saturday night

I stare out into the arid land
I desire to feed the dirt that screams of thirst,
to be philanthropic,
like saving the last drops of water from my bottle
to feed the plants outside;
another process that lacks effectiveness but that i still continue to do

With audacity, i speak first
My small crackle of a voice seems hardly hearable,
it is overshadowed by the rapacious force of nature;
I started to declaim but stopped,
feeling small and desiring to hide within my own skin

I wish for him to leave
Even more than i wish myself to leave this dry land
that makes any exposed part of skin cracked and withered,
Rather like ice eats away at exposed skin
of someone climning the peaks of a mountain

This... place is silent
Silent of words, silent of thoughts, silent of people yet raging with sound
At least it was silent
He leaves, it is silent once again
I crawl back out of my skin and extend myself over the land
Oh the beatiful land

Thanks for reading :)

You grow from the inside
Destroy everything through
Destroy from the inside
Erupt like volcano
You flow from the inside
You kill everything through
You kill from the inside"

Pretty awkward paragraphing to read man, you could try laying the page out a bit better but w/e it's not a big deal.

This is truly abstract and interesting. I adore poetry like this, unshackled from reality and yet it still, for me anyway, inflicts ideas both sentimental and sinister about our environment.

Thank you.

Please write more poetry.

Oh no, I’m sorry, you’re under the impression that here on YWS we *help* writers instead of just feeding their gremlin tendencies.
