I once watched a man who saw god.
His eyes were full of hope and determination.
He would never stop, and he would never falter.
He crossed the highest mountain,
and walked the infinite path.
He removed darkness and exposed the light.
He saw many people, but never stopped to say hello.
He faced many challenges, such as
hunger, thirst, depression, subjection, fears and foes, and evil itself.
He crossed my path and I followed.
I never slept as long as he didn't.
He was fascinating and mysterious, and he knew I was there,
but he paid no mind.
It took him years upon years,
and lives upon lives, until he found
the blood marker and opened the door
that was never closed.
From the doorway I saw him,
standing there in a white void,
empty and void of life.
He looked around and not to any
shock, he listened and heard a faint
"ding!". As the elevator music played on
and the door opened, and he held out his
finger. So came out another finger, just bone, and
touched against the man's finger, and he was no more.
And in a noise as chilling as death itself, I heard,
"Elevator Heaven 1, going up?".
The door closed and I blinked and found myself back at
the same spot and same time I had met the man. Except
I never met, ever again.
It was then that I understood what his journey was for.
He had met god. But not with his body, but his soul.
