Chapter 9
All the darkness around us lets us hide from the whole crowd of people that want our pictures.
“Z-ack,” I whisper, shivering at the thought of pictures.
“It will be fine,”
The only sounds we can here are the surroundings. Cars pass by on the highway and many news casts are taking place here for the traffic. You can hear the animals talk to each other and fly around or sleep. The mosquitoes buzz in our ears and I try to slap them before they suck my blood out like a vampire.
*
“Alex, Alex! Wake up, you’re on the news!” My brother Jake shouts at me.
“Keep quiet,” I yawn turning in my bed.
“Al-you are seriously on TV,”
My eyes continue to shut as I get up-I feel that my body isn’t awake yet-it keeps on tipping from side to side.
“I’m on what?”
“The TV, how many times do I have to say that?” he runs out of my room as I follow him.
My body wakes up at every step I take down the stairs. I can hear some lady on the TV talking about Zack Gallagher and a mystery girl-so I speed up pushing Jake and his Pj’s to the side and run down. My head continues to pound to the beat of my heart as I land in the blue room spotting my parents with their mouths open.
“You’ll catch flies like that,” I try to end the awkwardness.
They shut their mouths and I walk in with Jake behind me.
“Zack Gallagher’s mystery girl is a beautiful one with her blond hair she makes Zack look dumber than before-we caught them at Zack’s nemesis party! Colin Hermis has invited them both but they decided to have a little sex during it all,” The show posts pictures of us in the party.
It shows our fight (someone recorded some stuff on camera about us), our makeup, and our run away.
“Alexandra Nicolle Serolska,” my dad says with an angry tone.
“I love you daddy?” I say weakly.
“I know you do-the press tells lies, so you tell us the truth,”
“That’s rude that they called me dumb-and we didn’t have sex!”
“I know-tell us,”
I sit down letting my body rest and my mind goes crazy from what just happened.
“Okay listen-,” I start telling the truth.
*
My parents were shocked with the discovery, at least they believed me. Most people wouldn’t have. I was surprised that they didn’t laugh at me as if it were a joke.
I travel in my mind with my headphones in my ears bringing in Selena Gomez’s song “I Got U”. My whole body is relaxed on the bed which lets me sink in all my problems; well actually-I resolved my problems but not all.
“Sweetie,” My mom comes into my room.
I turn off my iPod and sit up.
“Uhuh,”
She sits right next to me.
“Are you happy with Zack?” I can her concerned face.
“Yeah,” I smile.
“That’s great,”
“Why’d you ask?”
She pulls me into a hug and speaks up. “Because you’re my daughter-I care about your happiness, especially with a boy,”
I smile hard and hug her back making me feel really happy. “Thanks mom,”
Mom gets up to leave. “Me and dad are heading to Colin’s house-wanna come?”
Colin? Well his parents are really close to mine, no wonder they are going.
“Why not,” I smile letting her leave.
“All right-then get ready because we are leaving in about 5 minutes,”
She leaves my room and I run to my closet pulling out clothes.
*
Being here feels weird-I never felt this way here. Why is there guilt in me? Why do I wanna run away every time I see Colin? What’s wrong with me?
“Alex,” My mom questions me.
“Wh-a-t,”
“Are you okay?” she sips her coffee.
“Uhuh, I mean yeah-just a bit tired that’s all,”
I shift in my seat.
“Why don’t you go to Colin, maybe you can lay on his bed for a while,” Colin’s mom says.
“Uh-its okay, I’m gonna go for a walk,” I get up leaving the adults to their business.
Once I’m in front of the front door someone grabs me. Everything goes so fast that I barley catch my breath. That someone kisses me-I know who it is. This someone is the only one that kisses like this-Colin.
“What the fuck Colin?” I whisper.
“I still lo-,” I cut him off.
“No you don’t,”
“You don’t chose what I think,”
We stay close to each other but I try to pull away-he’s holding my arm with a tight grip.
I chose what I think-and we’re over,” At the “we’re” I point at both of us to make him see what I mean.
“Alex,” he turns his head from right to left.
“What?”
“I just can’t stop thinking about you,”
My heart skips a beat. He lets my arm go and I run out of the house. I’m sweating and my mind is flooding up with “What. The. Fuck,”

News casts: that's the articles the news people read or write.
News casters: they're the people who find out the news.

"I love you daddy?" Haha! I love that line.

Perhaps you should ease off the swearing a little. By the looks of it, this is a piece of work that's meant to be read by young teenagers, and even though young teenagers may swear a lot, it's not really suitable for them to read. As a writer it's your job to make characters who can be good role models :)

At the beginning, is Jake wearing his pyjamas, or carrying them? It seems strange to push him and his pyjamas down the stairs. Also, what happened to Frank? If Jake is another brother he needs a brief introduction, or to be included sooner. If Jake is Frank but with a different name you might want to add that as a forenote before this piece.

And with that, I conclude review nine :D

Overall this story is progressing really well, and your writing seems to be improving. On the other hand, it might be helpful to get other people to review individual chapters. Once your reader (me in this case) gets used to the voice of your character it becomes harder to spot the imperfections.

I hope all this helps in some way or other. It's been fun reading your work :) Keep it up.
