Hey just started writing this story. Does not have a title yet feel free to make any suggestions. Thanks.

Just two more weeks and I’ll be able to drive myself to school, no more being late to all my classes, because my little sister couldn’t get herself ready on time. ‘Come on Mel’ I don’t know how many times I’ve said that, over the years.
Wishful thinking on my part, at the rate I was going, I wouldn’t be able to afford a car for another few years, and I would be stuck catching the same old yellow school bus, that id been catching since year seven.
Something’s never change.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve lived in Greenwood, with my hippy mum Joy who still thinks that she is back in the 70’s, and my blond haired blue eyed little sister, who according to everyone in my family got ‘the looks’. I’ve gotten used to all the comments off my sister, ‘plain Ava’ and ‘same old Ava’ with my black hair and brown eyes. I couldn’t argue, but it suited me just fine, I didn’t mind if my sister got all the attention, I was fine just to melt into the shadows and watch from afar.
Now who’s not ready?’ ‘Come on we are going to miss the bus’ Melody yelled at me from the front porch, as she checked herself out in the refection of the window.
I was used to this, it was her daily routine, spend an hour in front of the mirror and then as you walk out the door, check yourself out again!
‘Wakey wakey Ava! You’re always daydreaming about one thing or another, it’s time to go’.
‘Alright’ I mumbled at her hitching my bag a little higher on my back,
‘See you later mum, see you when we get home’ we both coursed over our shoulders, taking off down the driveway, which was paint and oil stained, from the time when mum decided she was going to paint the car yellow, needless to say it didn’t work out.

On the bus, I took my usual seat up the back and stared out the window, looking at all the new leaves and flowers, blooming now that winter was over. Not that I didn’t like the cold, it’s just after looking at browns and greys for so long, a little colour is like heaven.

School, or no one ever has to think central, nothing ever exciting ever happens here, at greenwood high, there were only about four hundred kids who went to this school, and since I started here, not one new person has joined our year. The school was very old and needed new everything. Situated at the bottom of one of the towns tallest mountains, it was quite remote, most kids would rather take the hour bus trip to Vallyhills to go to the bigger school there.

English, in my opinion the worst class ever.
‘So did you have a good weekend?’ Bell asked while drawing aimlessly on her English notebook.
‘Yeah it was alright. Just stayed at home and hung out, what about you?’
‘Nothing to interesting, dad made me and brother go fishing, and just so you know I am so not a boat person, I got sick just sitting on the lake’. Bell cringed
Bell looked like a person who could do just about anything, she had long curly red hair, startling green eyes and a dancers body.
‘Ha, I don’t know what got into your head, you know what boats and water do to you. Need I remind you about my twelfth birthday and the little raft’. I teased.
‘Oh ha-ha you’re so funny, when was the last time you did anything fun?’ Bell burst out, stung from my teasing.

Bell was often like this, things just flew out of her mouth, no matter if they hurt people’s feelings. Not that she wasn’t right; living in Greenwood sort of set back what you could do on the weekend. Most people who visited here were tourists, who loved to go hiking in the forests or go rock climbing, it was a perfect place for that sort of thing, but if you were a stay on the ground, no creepy crawlies type of person, like me, it probably wasn’t your scene.
‘You call getting sick fun do you’ I challenged.
Our conversation was interrupted by Mr. Redwing, introducing a new person to the class. The first person new to this school in over five years, no wonder everybody was staring at the guy. I felt sorry for him, I knew that I would hate to be stared at like that, but as soon as I turned to look at him, I was just like everybody else, I couldn’t stop my mouth from falling open. He was about six feet tall, looked like he spent a lot of time in the gym, had jet black hair and was wearing clothes that looked like they had popped out of a fashion magazine, but it wasn’t this that had me staring, it was his eyes, they were all different colours, swirling and changing like water running. Purple, green, brown, yellow. They just kept changing!
Just as I was about to point this out to Bell she whispered to me,
‘He is so hot! No one here looks like he does. Do you think he has a girlfriend? I could stare into those big blue eyes all day. Ahhhhh.'
This had me so stunned that I couldn’t say anything, I just sat there like a statue staring at him, like an idiot.
‘As I was saying, this is your new class mate Ashton White, he will be joining us for the rest of the year.
Ashton took the only seat left in the class right next to Bell, who was practically jumping out of her seat with excitement, while the rest of the girls all had sour expressions on their faces.
Mr Redwing had picked up where he had left off in his lecture, and seemed oblivious to the fact, that no one was paying the slightest bit of attention to him.
‘So you just moved here, how do you like greenwood?’ Bell questioned Ashton, while about twenty other ears were listening in, on the whispered conversation.
‘ Yes I did, it is very nice here’ he responded, like he had been coached to say this, it just sounded off to me, but everybody that I could see was hanging off his every word.
‘Where did you move from?’ Bell probed for more answers,
‘A place much different than this’
‘Oh but where ....
‘Miss Belinda Celt are you paying attention to what I am saying’! Mr Redwing reprimanded from the front of the classroom.
‘Sorry sir didn’t catch the question’
‘There was no question Miss Celt, it just didn’t look like you were paying attention, and it appears that I was right. Up the front if you don’t mind’ Mr Redwing said, while pointing to the table right in front of the blackboard.
Bell sighed and got up.
‘The only time he ever pays attention, what are the chances’ She whispered, and stalked off to take her seat at the front of the class room.
Now it was only me and Ashton, sitting at the desk at the back of the classroom, it was strange how every eye in the room seemed to be on us, but all heads were facing to the front of the room.
I quickly peeked up at the person sitting next to me, I still couldn’t believe what I saw, it just didn’t make any sense for eyes to change colour. Did it.
As I turned to look, I was shocked to see him staring down at me with a little smirk on his face.
I could feel myself blushing, and quickly turned away before he could notice, and started to copy down what Mr Redwing had written on the board. I couldn’t concentrate, I swear that I could hear him chuckling under his breath, and I had no idea why.
‘According to your book, you must be Ava, I’m Ashton, is this class usually so boring?’ He casually asked, with a hint of a smile on his face.
“Yeah pretty much” I responded automatically, and quickly looked away
What the hell was going on here. First we get a new student, but not just any new student, one that had weird colour changing eyes, he answers questions like they were rehearsed, doesn’t pay the slightest bit of attention to all the people who are staring at him, and talks to me, This was defiantly a dream. Come on Ava time to wake up.
I took the chance to take another peek at him, while Mr Redwing was telling the class about the upcoming test; but he was still staring straight down at me. I quickly turned away again, blushing, and concentrated on my note book throughout the rest of the class.

“Did you talk to him? What did he say? He is so gorgeous!” Bell quizzed me while walking to lunch.
“He asked me if the class was always so boring, and I said yes that’s it” I wasn’t going to tell her about him staring at me, for the entire lesson.
“I wonder if we are going to have any other classes with him, I hope we are. Oh my god he is so hot!”. She kept on like this, basically all the way through lunch, little did I know, that the same conversations were going on all around the lunch area. The new student was hot topic.

Last period sport, not the worst class in the world, but not that far from it.
“Today we will be playing tennis. So pick a partner and stand together”. Our sports teacher Mrs. Green was a short thin lady, with greying hair and little grey beady eyes. Her dream, as she frequently reminded the school, was to play tennis professionally, and took pleasure out of making her class replay her former glory, even though in my opinion tennis was a very boring sport.
From behind me i heard, “How about we be a team, I’m pretty good a tennis. I could teach you a few things”
No, No, No, this could not be happening. Turning around, I see Ashton staring down at me, with an annoying cocky smile on his face, holding out a tennis racket. I didnt know why, but i felt like punching him.
