I wrote this while i sat at my favirote place, the foot of an oak tree beside the pond. I havent really edited it much but i like it anyways. My class was on a field trip so it wasn't exactly perfect.

I'm finnally alone at last.
It's taken me all day.
to get to the spot where I belong,
the place i long to stay.

The water ripples perfectly.
The turtle heads bob up.
The duck floats gracefully,
nipping at a cup.

Music from behind me,
along with muffled shouts.
They can't see the beuty,
even i have my douts.

From the tree in which I sit,
a leaf falls to the lake.
And people climb the waterfall,
I do hope for their sake.

Birds soar through the air.
They cut it like a knife.
How lucky they are,
to have purpose in this life.

I hear footsteps behind,
none of which for me.
I know where i belong.
Here aginst my tree.

Hi,

This is really lovely. I really enjoyed it. Your imagery is great and the rhyme scheme compliments the piece. I especially enjoyed the second stanza, and it ends beautifully.

I'd just make a couple of minor changes; I'd make all your "i"s capital, I'd run a spell check to catch the little typos, I'd change "I do hope for their sake" as it sounds forced-hope what for their sakes? I'd also change "cut it like a knife" as it's a bit dull compared with your other vivid images.

Hope this helps,

Jas

I feel like you knew what you wanted to talk about in the poem, but your determination to keep with the rhyme scheme hindered what you wanted to say. From writing poems like this myself it seems like there is more to the story than what is being said or that you chose words just to make the scheme and stanzas work. Stanzas three four and five give me this feel because it seems unnatural for the situation. Three seems like two stanzas to me. One about the beauty and one about the music. Four doesn't quite make sense because people Don't climb up waterfalls. They could climb up the land by the waterfall but climbing up the waterfall itself is rather deadly. Five is a very well put together stanza except that you do not mention what purpose the birds Do have in this life and that makes things feel like they have been left unsaid. To me, birds do not serve a purpose of relevance to the poem so it seems unnatural to comment on that.

All the same, the poem itself is good enough to stay just as it is. It could use some work if the proper feeling struck but I have found it very hard to go back and edit a work after I have set it down.
Please do fix your spelling errors though. They aren't too distracting as we understand what's being said, but it will make the poem seem more complete.
