Do peope compliment you on your self-expression?

Today, I was in Psychology, and my teacher was reading over my shoulder, and she said "You have such a good way of expressing what you want to say." I took this as a rather unexpected compliment, because my making sense is a valuable rarity. But it's not the first time it's happened. I joined another forum recently - not a writing one - and on my "newbie post", I had a couple of comments, that went along the lines of:

Hi, Ruth. What a great introduction!

and

Wow, you have a great style of writing.

This is particularly unnerving because all the way through writing my introduction, I was thinking "this is terribly written. People are going to think I'm an illiterate chav."

The weirdest thing of all, though, is that this week is the first time it's happened. Nobody outside of YWS, which I figure doesn't count because it's the focus, has ever told me I'm good at expressing myself, or a good writer. It's bizarre and slightly scary.

So I was wondering, has this happened to anyone else? Do people randomly compliment you? When did it start to happen? For me, I think it wouldn't have ever happened if it weren't for YWS. So firstly, thank you, and secondly, I'm curious.
