Whispers....Chapter 2

The inside of the school looked old but new as well. I mean the furniture the whole design was from the Victorian times. It all looked like an Gothic castle but you had some new things in there, like electrical equipment and stuff.

Kyra led the way through a dark, tight corridor with no windows or doors. The only noise was the rolling of the wheels on our luggage.

"Where are we going, Kyra?" I whispered. The gloomy mood around me made me feel afraid, frightened, but I didn't know why.

"The Principals office" Kyra said, with no hint of scariness in her voice. She sounded like it was nothing for her, like she walked through this dark corridor like a hundred times before, which could be possible.

Suddenly we stopped. I looked up from the floor and saw that we got to the end of the corridor, but there were no doors. In front of us stood a big mirror, with dark, Gothic wooden frame.

"What the hell? Where do we go now?" I asked her whispering again. She didn't seem surprised. I saw her reflection in the mirror, she was grimacing. As if she knew I would ask this, well who wouldn't.

"Through the mirror" She said, as if it was nothing, as if you did this everyday.

"What? If you didn't notice, that mirror is made out of glass, you know something that you can't go through unless you brake it." This time I didn't whisper, I tried to sound as intelligent as I could.

"Didn't you learn something, for the past two days?" She said. Before my sixteenth birthday, which was two days ago, I would think that all this that happened to me was crazy, that I only imagined it. Now I guess anything can happen.

In the mirror I saw that Kyra closed her eyes. She let go of the luggage. Kyra brought her hands up to her heart and whispered...

"Apertura, per cortesia specchio, apertura mi per me."

The mirror started to shine, with bright blue colour, you couldn't see your reflection in it anymore. I didn't know what to do, I just gazed at the colour it made.

"Follow me..." Kyra said. She grabbed her luggage and disappeared in the bright blue light. I quickly grabbed my luggage, closed my eyes and followed her in to the mirror.

"Leah, you can open your eyes now." Kyra said from somewhere beside me. I opened my eyes, I wasn't on the scary corridor anymore, I was in some kind of a hall, with no windows, but it was light in there, it looked like the rest of the school. Kyra was standing in front of me, smiling. There was a table in the corner. Behind it, was sitting an old lady, doing something on a computer, There were giant, wooden doors right in front of me, they looked exactly like the main doors of the Academy.

I thought that the way through the mirror would feel like something, I mean that I would feel something, that something would happen. But it only felt like stepping into a room, nothing special, it didn't take even a second.

"What was that you said, when the mirror started to shine? What language was it in?" I looked at her.
"It was in Italian, don't ask me why in that language because I don't know, the principal picked it. It meant 'Open please mirror, open for me'." She said playfully and then turned her attention to the woman behind the table.

"Excuse me Miss Layni, is dad in there, I mean the principal?" Dad? Her dad was the principal of this school? She never mentioned that, well she never mentioned a lot of things.

" Yes Peaches, it's nice to see you again," the old lady said, without looking at us. Kyra went red, she looked like a five year old to me now, I guess she grew up here.
Kyra thanked Miss Layni and started to walk towards the door.

" Why did she call you Peaches?" I chuckled.

" When I was small, I loved Peaches, so people around here started to call me like that." She whispered back.

"Where are we?" I asked looking around me.

"Below the school." She answered
I was going to ask her when was the time when she was little but then the big, Gothic doors opened . I looked at the old lady she didn't seem to be disturbed by that, I guess this happens a lot.

We stepped into the Principals office. It was quite dark in there, the only light was coming from the big fire place. There were lots of shelves with a hundreds of books on them. Near the door was a staircase which led to another door. There was a table in the middle of the room, it wasn't tidy at all. Behind the table sat an older man, I assumed he was in his forties. He had the same honey-brown eyes as Kyra. When he saw us, the side of his mouth pulled up into a smile. He smiled exactly like Kyra.

He stood up and runned, I actually mean runned towards Kyra and hugged her tightly. He was dressed like a priest, the only difference was that his clothes were purple and baby-blue colour. His hair was long, he had it fastened by a hairband at the back, and you wouldn't believe it but they were blue, an electric blue colour, the same was his long beard which was fastened by a hairband as well.

"Oh Peaches, I missed you so much, I'm so happy you're here." He said when he finally let go of her.

"Oh you must be Miss Brown" He said and shook my hand.
I had the same surname as Kyra, I guess grandpa Zeus picked that out as well. But I'm happy he made Kyra (she was one of his guards at the time I was born) to take care of me, I mean live with me, feed me, she was just like a mother to me. Well she cared for me since my birth.

"I'm Hermes.sit down please, both of you." He said and pointed onto two chairs in front of his massive desk, he sat down on his chair as well.

"Don't you know me?" Mr Hermes said.

"No, should I?" I looked at him puzzled. Kyra chuckled beside me.

"I'm Hermes , the Olympian god of boundaries and of the travelers who cross them, of shepherds and cowherds, of orators and wit, of literature and poets, of athletics, of weights and measures, of invention, of commerce in general, and of the cunning of thieves and liars." He said it all in one breath

"Dad, she's new to this, she discovered it all just two days ago." Kyra said smiling.

"Okay, okay, let's talk about why we're here now." Mr Hermes, Hermes, Hermes the Principal, Principal Hermes, whatever you call him said. What should I call him?

"Well student's around here call me Principal Hermes" How did he know what I was thinking about?

"Well I knew what you were talking about, because all the magical creatures around here can read minds."

"What? I don't want anybody to read what I think. Why can't I hear others minds?" I asked, little bit hysterically.

"Don't worry. You have to learn how to read others minds, you have the ability you just have to learn how to use it, student's learn it when they're ten, ten year olds are first years. And Kyra will teach you how to stop others reading you're mind. Students here do it in first year. Don't worry Kyra will take care of teaching you that in private." He said.

Well now I'm like an opened book, to all the student's around here.

"Miss Brown, you're the child of olympus goddess Athena and Titan Oceanus, your powers are endless. You are one of the most powerful creatures on earth. It's all because you're the child of two really powerful creatures and because you've been born under a full moon, a blue full moon-" He stopped to look at how I react to it, then he continued to speak again.

"Blue full moon doesn't happen often, usually children of Gods which where born on a full moon are powerful, but you my dear, were born on a blue full moon, everyone expects big things from you. The last time the blue moon occurred was the night when Zeus was born. Zeus the ruler of gods..." Oh so maybe that's why grandpa Zeus didn't want me up there.

"Oh and you must know that you're, kind of famous in our world." So, people know me, I don't like that, I would rather be invisible, than some kind of a freak who's supposed to do big things.

"Peaches, you're going to be a teacher here, Zeus said so. You will be teaching Defense with Greg."

When Kyra heard that she'll be teaching with Greg, she nearly fell of her chair, a big smile was formed on her face.

"And you Miss Brown, will be in Seventh year. There's only one class. Here's a brochure about the school and your timetable. You're room-mate is coming to pick you up. Good luck, my dear." I smiled at him, I took the brochure and the timetable he handed me and thanked him.

Just then the massive, Gothic doors opened. A girl about my age stepped in. She was dressed in the school uniform, but she looked so royal. She had light caramel coloured skin, brown eyes, and curly brown hair below her shoulders. She was much taller, than I was. I'm not too tall or too petite, I'm somewhere in between.

"Good morning, Principal Hermes. Am I too late, I know you said to come at 10.30am, that they would be here already, but I had some problems with finding your note, to excuse me from today's classes, but at the...." the girl said, walking towards the table.

Principal Hermes cut her off, "Don't worry my dear Layla, you're just on time."
He smiled at her.

I stood up, because I knew it was time to go, for me.

"Layla show her around, explain everything to her, I know I can count on you." Principal Hermes said. I smiled at the girl. She looked really friendly.

I turned towards Kyra, I knew she was about to cry. We've never actually been apart from each other for too long. I know we're going to see each other around the school and stuff, but it's not like we live together anymore. Before I got to say something, Kyra hugged me. She was sobbing in my each. She got really emotional sometimes. I started to cry as well.

"I love you kiddo." She whispered to me.
" Love you even more." I whispered back.

Kyra let go of me. I wiped my tears off, she did so too.

"See you around Kyra." I told her.

Layla was now standing beside the massive, wooden doors. I vawed to Kyra, and said thank you, to her dad. Then put my bag on my back, and pulled my luggage behind me. I followed the girl out the office. As soon as we were outside, the doors closed.

Miss Layni was still doing something on the computer. She didn't look up, or say something when we passed her. We stopped in front of the mirror, It looked exactly like the mirror on the dark corridor, up in the Academy. Layla repeated the same actions, Kyra has done earlier. She closed her eyes, brought her hands to her heart and whispered...

"Apertura, per cortesia specchio, apertura mi per me." The mirror in front of us, started to shine with a bright blue colour, you couldn't see your reflection in it anymore.

Layla stepped into the light and disappeared. I followed her. This time I didn't close my eyes. One second the blue light was surrounding me, the next I was standing in the frightening, dark, tight corridor again, but this time with Layla.
"Even in the darkness, my heart will you..."
"How do you escape from yourself?"
"...open your eyes, and see..."
