4th through 6th Grade for Sara

She used to come home, tears in her eyes, and I would walk up to her and ask, "What's wrong, Sara?"

"Nothing," she would always reply in a choked-up voice.

"Okay," I would say, and would just go back to playing with my dolls. I still wish I would've gave her a hug, and say 'it's okay, Sara'. Sometimes, I could hear her cry in her bed, and I used to think she was just tired since she would say nothing about it.

"Sara why are you crying again?" I would ask, yet she would continue to cry.

I didn't know what had happened until my mom finally told me that some girls at our school were calling my sister fat and would laugh at her. I couldn't understand why they would do that, she was so nice.

7th and 8th Grade for Sara

Sara finally began to grow taller and become thinner. She had finished puberty, so she looked older. The girls who had picked on her acted like her friends then, and she had made more friends. Her confidence was finally built up and she wouldn't cry anymore.

Freshman Year for Sara

A couple of the girls who were mean to her when she was younger went to her high school. At the beginning, they were still her "friends", but when Sara made it into volleyball and basketball, she became more and more fit. I think her "friends" became jealous of her.

The "friends" began to talk about her behind her back, then left notes in her locker, like "Fatass" or "Bitch". My sister cried a lot more then, skipping school days, while she actually believed what they said.

She wouldn't even talk to me anymore like she used to. She would stay in the bathroom sometimes, and I wouldn't be able to talk to her. I missed talking to her, because she used to make me laugh. But, she would ever only cry at night.

Sophomore Year for Sara

Sara went to school the entire year, but she didn't try out for any sports. Her grades were perfect, but she wasn't social at all. Sara only had one friend, Dani. Dani really had no personality, but at least Sara had someone to talk to.

She still cried at night, but she was talking to me somewhat. I could make her smile by doing something stupid, or making fun of my reading teacher.

Present Year for Sara (Junior Year)

Sara has no tears anymore. She has confidence. She has more friends. She joined the debate club. She thinks those girls are shallow, and have to feed off of others confidence to make themselves sleep at night. She knows now that the girls will be nothing.

She talks to me about everything and anything, now that I'm a teenager, too. Sara tells me about how eighth grade will be harder than seventh with the homework. I can make her laugh more often, even if she does have a little mood-swing sometimes.

My sister is amazing. To go through something like that, and not just give up entirely, she is the strongest person I know. That's why Sara is my hero.

A true story with a happy ending huh. Anyways, I love how you express your feelings and describe the events in parts. Even though it's not detailed, it's enough for me to understand. Congrats to your sis.

As the notifications drift in I stop and wonder. Why do they take so long? Do they have adventures we don't know about? I bet they do. When they come I will ask myself. What amazing adventure has this straggling notification been on? How far did it travel, and why didn't it take me?
