Just a little short story about MY Valentine's Day.

I look past you as we dance and I lay my head on your shoulder. I see all the blurry faces of other people. Not caring what people think, I close my eyes and turn my head towards your neck.
I can feel the heat of your body against mine as you pull me closer. I feel your hands around my waist, right above my butt. Far, but not too far.
My heart skips a beat when I realize what song is playing; All My Life by K-Ci and JoJo.
"All my life, I've prayed for someone like you. And I thank God that I, that I finally found you..."
I move my hand farther up your spine, almost to your neck. I can smell your cologne linger of your shirt. My heart skips, yet, another beat.
I feel the heat of your breathe on my shoulder blade.
Are we going to kiss? I think to myself. Oh my gosh, will it finally happen?
"All my life I pray for someone like you. Yes, I pray that you do, love me too.."
I hear the song start to fade out and the DJ announce the end of the dance, but the song still playing.
We both pull out, and look into each others eyes, the light from the exit reflects off your eyes and making me remember why I love you in the first place.
"Well, goodnight." you say to me.
Our heads bob towards each other. But end up only with a kiss on the cheek.
I pull you close into a hug, your hand running up my back. I can feel your heart beat this time, as fast as mine.
"Wanna try that again?" I whisper into your ear.
"Yes."  You say to me.
We pull our necks apart so we can look at each other again. We bob towards each other again. This time, it's perfect.
I take time to remember every part of that moment.
I feel the warmness in your mouth escape into mine. I put my hand on your cheek as you hold me tight.
Slowly, we pull apart, our hands finding each other. Your hands are so soft and strong.
We walk off the dance floor, hand in hand. I look back at you, your face is cherry red.
As I go get my stuff from the Spanish room, the crowd separates us and your fingertips slip from mine.
*.       *.        *.         *.         *.
As I sit in the backseat of my car, I look up at the stars, the night sky so
dark and the stars so bright and ecstatic. I breathe in hard and sigh deeply. I lay my head on the window letting the coldness soothe me.
How could this be? I say to myself. But I guess, it was always meant to be.
You know the crazy thing though? You changed my world with just one smile, but you took my heart, yet again, with just one kiss.
I hope someday that someone will walk into my life and help me realize why it never worked out with him or anyone else.

This wasnt prose.

this was poetry.

I'd much, much rather see this as poetry. A kind of sensation/point of view poem.

This all was like the collected thoughts of the moment concerning a love.

It read well, but this diddnt really do as a short story, as I said before, poetry man, it's pretty sweet.

Uhmm, some of your body movement descritpions were a bit hard to imagine as natural, and it is for some reason weird for me to read butt... I dont know its jsut usually everyone tries to be edgy and say ass or classy and say backside.

hmm, nice one there then.

Uhmm, really I'd just say convert the format of this for something else and it'd be awesome.

Its good right now, and it could use a bit more effective presentation, but otherwise good.
A story's not a story till you've made it up you see.

Hiya Leyla!

Well, I do agree with Eraqio that the style is a bit different for prose. This short was good, but I'm sure you could make poetry with this.
Either way, this was a good read. A little nitpicks.

My heart skips a beat when I realize what song is playing; All My Life by K-Ci and JoJo.
Well, I'm not sure about this sentence but somehow it jars out. Maybe it's just me, but I do think you could just say how you heard the song start playing. This intro to the song seems weird.

I can smell your cologne linger off your shirt.

We both pull out, and look into each others eyes, the light from the exit reflects off your eyes and making me remember why I love you in the first place.
"Well, goodnight." you say to me.
The shift from third person to second doesn't really work here.

Keep Writing.
Cheers,

Wow so poetic! I don't agree w/ everyone else. I like it as a story! @Yuriiko 1235 it's not almost romatic....It is! I like how it is almost lke a poem but is a story...I could never do that so I really apreciate it. You had well thought out sentences and phrases and you have a piece that I could only hope to imagine!

Why should Caesar just get to stomp around like a giant while the rest of us try not to get smushed under his big feet? Brutus is just as cute as Caesar, right? Brutus is just as smart as Caesar, people totally like Brutus just as much as they like Caesar, and when did it become okay for one person to be the boss of everybody because that's not what Rome is about! We should totally just stab Caesar!
