Due to a drop in actors, I had to rewrite. Three characters have been taken from the film.
SCAVENGERS (Scene Four)
(We fade in to Calvin and Norman, walking down a long stretch of empty road)
CALVIN:
Hey, I've got a question for you.
NORMAN:
Shoot.
CALVIN:
Why do you hate Adrian so much?
NORMAN:
Well, as you can probably imagine, I've been asked this question a bit. But, Before I tell you... can you keep it a secret for me? I don't want to reveal too much about my personal life to the rest of the crew.
CALVIN:
Sure.
NORMAN:
I was a corporal in the war. I had originally lived out in New York, but they shipped us out here for, uh... assistance to medical personnel. And I had a fiancee back home. What I didn't know was that she was Adrian's sister. And me and Adrian were friends in the war, you see? I made the error of disclosing my love life to Adrian, right before we were sent out into the battlefront. He was...
CALVIN:
Not pleased.
NORMAN:
..Yeah. He ended the friendship, essentially. I tried to talk to him when we made it back to the bunkers at night, but he wouldn't respond to anything I said. Then the bombs hit. We were in two different places at that point. My entire infantry was killed, but I managed to get away with scalded hands and a permanently damaged knee.
CALVIN:
What happened to your knee?
NORMAN:
Shrapnel from the truck we were in. I'm amazed I lived, after all the blood loss. For awhile, I thought I was the only one alive. But I found TriOpolis. It was still in the early stages of development. Adrian forbid me to live there. So I formed the Scavengers. For revenge. And in just a few days. I'm going to get it.
(Norman pulls the pistol from his pocket, and cocks it)
NORMAN:
All thanks to you and your little creation, here.
CALVIN:
Pleased to help.
(They arrive outside of a gravel pit, and shake hands)
NORMAN:
Try to make it fast. And you won't be needing the coat. It's damn hot out there.
CALVIN:
Thanks.
(Calvin walks out into the pit, and after he has gotten a distance away, Norman looks ahead, then walks out of the camera's sight)
