What is Success?

Success is a complicated thing. Many people view success as power, fame, and wealth. For a long time, I thought so too. But I have realized what success is truly about. I aim to answer all the burning questions the world has to offer about success. What is success? Are there problems that come with success? Is losing okay? As I said before, success is a complicated thing to talk about. Success can be measured in different ways, depending on your opinion. This is my take on success.
I assume that the first question on the minds of many is: What is true success? After much careful thought on this, my answer is as follows. Firstly, real success is not about whether you win or lose. If this is hard to believe for you, take heart in that you are not alone. I am an extremely competitive person. I have thought that what is left on the scoreboard when the clock shows zeros determines whether you won or lost, you were successful or unsuccessful, you lived or you died. I have thought before that if you scored more than another team, you won and you were successful, if you didn’t you were the loser, and therefore, unsuccessful.
This is not what success is. Success is, as John Wooden put it, “Success is a peace of mind which is a direct result of self-satisfaction knowing that you did you best to become the best that you are capable of becoming.” Wooden meant that success, winning, for that matter, is about knowing that you did your best. I know it sounds corny, but its true. In fact, Vince Lombardi would be more angry at his team if they did not do their best and won the game rather than if they had played their hearts out and lost.
This quote from Vince Lombardi sums my point up: “You never lose, but sometimes the clock runs out.”

I think you make some good points and have some strong ideas in this, but I also think that you should work on portraying it a little better. Try to add some personality, rather than just sort of putting out your opinions. Like I said already, you make some really good points...now just make others believe that too!!! MAKE people think, and feel, and put yourself into this as much as possible without making it overly-dramatic. If you do, I bet it'll be amazing.

Hello, I am AspiringAuthorA..M. and shall be your reviewer for tonight.

This is not what success is. This quote from Vince Lombardi sums my point up: “You never lose, but sometimes the clock runs out.”

You didn't exactly state how you viewed his opinion. How does it resonate with you? (I know that's a funny word to use) So, to sum it up, your ending leaves a hanging feeling. Sort of like a non-fiction cliff hanger. An unsolved mystery.

Two more good quotes on success:

"The dictionary is the only place success comes before work."
"A successful life is a balanced life."

Enjoy,

Hey there Minister :)

You gave me some feedback on my works so it's only fair I return the favour! :D

Right, I think here you've written subconsciously in a kind of column-style which was the first thing that grabbed my interest. Obviously, this is more serious than my kind of work, but I think you've nailed it. So, well done! I think there's some messages every reader can take away and your use of quotes is very good.

Keep it up,
~Ben

P.S - (E&iC) Dictionary [Part Two] is up & if you'd like to join the "Column Crazy Group" then you'll find it under Groups => Group Index.

I really love the topics you choose to write one. Being of a competitive nature myself, your works make me look in retrospect on my views on success and winning. I really thank you, and hope you keep up the good works.
