Cracking Ice

Bittersweet wind, crisp
stinging my face
numb to the watery tears
freezing on my rosy cheek.
A step on cracked ice
with a pother of snow
around my bodice.
I could stand and fall
or run to see if I
make it to the other side.
The clouting claws at
my ears,
it's macabre groaning
pitting my nerves.
What do you do
when you know running
delays the fall,
and no matter what you do,
there is no escape from
the eventual plunge into
the freezing slumber of solitude.
Today is the tomorrow that you worried about yesterday

Hiya!

Alright, let's start with the critique first and then the opinion =)
I do not know if you tried to have it rhyme, I can't any kind of a flow speed to read it at to feel the rhyme. I recommend using punctuations if possible, they make a lot clear ^^ The verses were a bit choppy, but I'm positive for the theme you picked and the core of the story you're trying to tell us. It's an interesting theme to pick, I haven't seen any kind of same theme here so far, so a high-five for that. If you ever come to edit this poem, please PM me so I can take a look ^^

I like the theme to this poem, and how you kept it throughout. However, this is a bit confusing, the way it's written: "Bittersweet wind, crisp / stinging my face". I think you could fix it by switching the order of wind and crisp because at the moment it sounds like crisps (or potato chips, depending where you're from) are stinging your face. :P I'm not sure why the wind is bittersweet, also. However, I like how your poem is sort of metaphorical and open to interpretation, especially this part: "I could stand and fall / or run to see if I / make it to the other side." There is a question, though: "What do you do..." which requires a question mark at some point. A geat start. :)
Matt.
