“So you seriously don’t remember visiting us?” Rachel said as we walked outside after the party. I sighed.

“ It’s not you, I hit my head a lot growing up, my memory can wipe it’s self out,” I explained. It’s hard to be a klutz. I wasn’t a klutz on stage though. I found out I was in love with the stage when I was young.

“Ahh,” She said. Suddenly, she took a sharp turn to the ally by the restaurant. I fallowed, confused. There at the end was four bikes. They were all old fashioned ones, like the ones people ride in the 80s movies, with a banana seat and curved handlebars. “ You can ride this one,” She rolled the bike over to me. I took the helmet out o the basket and put it on. Perfect fit.

“ Why do we need bikes?” I asked. Rachel grabbed her red bike and matching helmet.

“ Our house is out in the woods,” She explained. “You’ll love it.”

We rode together on a small path into the woods. When we entered a meadow, all I could do was gasp in awe. In front of me was a small 19th century castle, about 5 stories high, as wide 2 and a half normal sized houses. The closest thing in amazement I have seen is the colonial houses of my hometown.

We parked our bikes and headed in. Rachel took me on a tour of the house, she showed me the living room, kitchen, the study, the dark room ( for Aaron’s pictures), and my favorite, the library. It was as big as a regular public library of the city.

Then Rachel lead me up the tallest tower, atop was my room I would be staying in for now. as we climbed the spiral wooden stairs I came to the conclusion that I was going to slim down from all this exercise. Rachel opened a dust-smelling door and revealed a circle shaped room only lighted by the sun from the small window. All there was in the room was a bed, a dresser, and a night side table with one drawer with candles on top.

Rachel sat on the bed. “ When my ancestors built this, they put secret passage ways and compartments around the place. I guarantee you’ll find some new ones.” She promised. That sounded interesting. Then Rachel and I started talking for hours about ancestors and history, as if we were knew each other for years- oh wait, we did.

"Characters cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Helen Keller

I wondered why we put villains in our stories when we have plenty of them in real life; then I realized that maybe we wanted stories where the good guy wins.
